Each year, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Ranking Agency publishes a number of rankings of best universities of the world. Regional QS EECA ranking includes 300 higher education institutions of the countries of developing Europe and Central Asia.
South Ural State University has been a participant of this ranking since the moment of its foundation in 2014, and has been sustainably holding its positions in top-150 of best higher education institutions of the region. In QS EECA 2019 edition, SUSU was placed the 135th, having improved its previous result in a number of parameters.
Parameters on which South Ural State University is holding the highest positions are: International Students and International Faculty (65th and 73rd in the region, correspondingly), which is caused by systematic implementation of a programme targeted at attraction of international contingent into the university. In the new edition of the ranking, SUSU’s Academic Reputation has improved essentially (+ 16 positions compared to the last year’s results), which is the most important parameter that has the biggest share (30%) when calculating overall result. Moreover, the indicator of the university’s Web Impact has increased significantly; on this parameter, South Ural State University climbed up 30 positions in the ranking, which proves its aspiration to international communication and cooperation.
Let us remind that traditionally, authors of the ranking evaluated universities upon nine criteria: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty Student, International Faculty, International Student, Papers per Faculty, Citations per Paper, Faculty Staff with PhD, and Web Impact. In QS EECA 2019 ranking, the new (tenth) criterion was added, which evaluates the extent of international openness in the sphere of scientific research and the scope of partner network.
