A delegation from the SUSU Institute of Law took part in the twelfth session of the Euro-Asian Law Congress on Law and Justice: Global Challenges.
The Congress was held September 13th and 14th, 2018 in Yekaterinburg and was organised by the Association of Russian Lawyers and Ural State Law University. The congress was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ural State Law University.
The Euro-Asian Law Congress is the biggest international discussion platform in Russia for dealing with current issues in legal community. More than 800 people took part in the congress, including international guests from 30 countries. At the congress, speakers included representatives of government agencies from Russia, as well as leading experts of the countries of BRICS, EEU, WTO, and UNIDROIT, experts from Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Finland, Bulgaria, Estonia, China, India, South Africa, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
The scientific discussion during the congress took part in plenary sessions, expert groups, and round tables. The representatives of the SUSU Institute of Law took part in the work of the expert groups on:
- Justice in Private Law – the head of the Centre of Private Law Tikhon Petrovich Podshivalov explored the issues on the role of the principle of justice in building a system of principles of private law. Staff of the Department of Civil Law and Civil Legal Procedures also participated – Associate Professor Svetlana Bayramovna Polich spoke about the meaning of justice in bankruptcy of private individuals, and postgraduate student Elena Shmakova reported on the use of the category of “justice” when considering corporate disputes.
- Economic and Legal Means of Protecting the National Interests of Russia – the head of the Department of Business, Competition, and Ecological Law, Professor Valentina Vycheslavovna Kvanina delivered a presentations on the National Regime in the Absence of Public Procurement as a Factor of Supporting National Interests; and on the Principles of Completing State and Municipal Procurements; Associate Professor Alyona Vyacheslavovna Spiridonova delivered a presentation on the Freedom of Entrepreneurial Activity in Relation to Antimonopoly Regulation; Associate Professor Elizaveta Aleksandrovna Gromova gave a speech on the Problems of Securing the Interests of Russia and Other Participants of BRICS in the Conditions of the Developing Digital Economy; senior lecturer Darya Viktorovna Zamryga at the meeting of the Expert Group delivered a presentation on the Legal Support of International Partnership and Integration in Economics, Finance, Taxation, and Customs Relations, dedicated to tax measures for stimulating innovations.
- Global Issues of Modern Labour and Social Relations: Searching for Measures of Legal Regulation – Elena Mikhailovna Ofman spoke about the prospects and issues of electronic document processing in labour relations.
