For fourth-year students learning English, the new academic year will become an indicative one. They have a unique chance to obtain IELTS International Certificate. SUSU is the only university in Chelyabinsk which offers its best students this opportunity.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) was developed to evaluate English proficiency. This exam is not only taken by those who wish to study abroad, but also by those who wish to find work there. IELTS takes the goals of the candidate into account and offers two modules to choose from: the IELTS Academic module and the IELTS General module.
Academic IELTS is considered more difficult. It is typically required for applying to universities in English-speaking countries. In all other cases, such as immigration to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, candidates need the General IELTS.
Right now, the IELTS International English Language Certificate is recognized by more than 9,000 organisations in 140 countries, including universities, professional organisations, immigration agencies, and other state agencies in such countries as Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and many more.
The IELTS exam was developed by international organisations being leaders in the field of testing: Cambridge English Language Assessment, IDP: IELTS Australia, and The British Council.
The IELTS certificate is time-sensitive: it is valid for 2 years.
IELTS consists of 4 parts: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The first 3 parts take around 3 hours, and 15-20 minutes are given for the 4th part (conversation with a native speaker). The exam procedure is very serious: they will take your fingerprints, photograph you, and take down your passport information. Candidates must closely follow all of the rules, or they will simply be refused. For this exam, candidates must be extremely concentrated and calm.
This exam is universal in that it can validate all levels of proficiency. Your IELTS result will consist of scores in each of the four skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking, and you’ll also receive a general average score (Overall Band).
The IELTS uses a scoring system which ranges from 0.0 to 9.0, with steps of 0.5 – candidates can earn a round score, for example 5.0, or a half point – 5.5.
SUSU students will be taking the Academic IELTS. For this, they spent the whole last year in faculty English lessons, which they continue to take now. These lessons do not only involve working on typical skills. The teachers, who have experience taking this exam, share their secrets for successful results; after all, our students have a serious task ahead of them – they need a score of 6.5 or higher. By the IELTS scale, this is the Upper-Intermediate level.
We wish our students confidence and luck, which as we all know, fortunes the brave! And let’s keep our fingers crossed!
