On September 6th in the Conference Hall of Sigma Education Building an annual Information Day was held for international freshmen from countries of the near-abroad: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kirghizia. The event was held by Vice-Rector for International Relations Olga Yaroshenko jointly with Head of the International Office Liudmila Lapina.

Head of the International Office Liudmila Lapina shared on why Information Days are important for international students.
“We organize Information Days so that international students could adapt to our university life quicker, and so that they know where they can address their questions, staring from the household ones, and ending with health issues. Also, we’re talking about activities beyond the process of studying, which our university can offer, in particular, we provide information about the Association of International Students.”
Such Information Days are held on a regular basis, we are trying to organize them several times within a year; and today is the first meeting for the students who have just arrived to our university. It is important to help students integrate in the academic process quicker, find themselves in extracurricular activities, and make their student life comfortable and diverse.
Also, Vice-Rector for Extracurricular Activity and Youth Policy Vyacheslav Burmatov delivered his welcome speech.

Within the frameworks of the Information Day students met the employees of the Department for Migration Affairs of the Russian Federation Ministry of Interior: Head of the Office for Organization of Migration Registration Elena Nazmutdinova, Deputy Head of the Office for Immigration Control Artem Yushkanov, Deputy Head of the Office for Citizenship Issues Natalya Yermolitskaya. They shared on the rules of residing of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation, and on what they will face if they violate those rules. Also, Head of the Immigration Services Marina Davydova informed students on where to apply to execute their migration documents once they arrive in Russia, as well as what will be required to be done first of all.
Head of the Department of Physical Education and Health Evgeny Cherepov shared about the system of self-perfection in sports and sports clubs, as those for various martial arts, tennis, badminton, swimming, fitness, shaping, and aerobics. In his turn Professor of the Department of Self-perfection in Sports, Honoured kick-boxing coach of Russia Yuriy Romanov, supervising the combat sports field, shared that trainings in striking and grappling martial arts are held in special halls. Students learn the basics of sambo, judo, and other combat sports.
Alisher Barotov is a student from Tajikistan. He does translations into English and Italian, and would like to become a translator in the future.
“Currently, I’ve enrolled into the 3rd year of studies at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communication. I filed my documents for the speciality of Translation and Translation Studies, as I’d like to study foreign languages at SUSU and become a translator. Besides studying, I would very much want to play piano and guitar.”
The Campus Director Liudmila Zadorina talked about the rules of living in the dormitories, and Inspector Nadezhda Zhdanova, as a reminder, mentioned the necessity to follow the fire.
A student from Tajikistan Zafardzhon Oymakhmadov shared his impressions of South Ural State University.
“It is my wish to study at SUSU, that is why I’ve come to this city. I submitted my documents for the speciality of Technology of Transportation Processes to the Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. Today, at this event I’d like to find out what scholarships are paid to international students.”
Inspector of the International Student Support Valeria Chachina shared that the Association of International Students has been functioning at SUSU since December of 2013; it helps students who come from foreign countries adapt to the university quicker. Students were invited to join the Association and actively participate in all cultural events.
