In 2018, South Ural State University will celebrate 75 years since its founding. On May 17th, the holiday “SUSU, a University of Sport” dedicated to this anniversary will be organized by the Institute of Sport, Tourism, and Service with the Office of Mass Sporting Events and the Russian Physical Culture and Sport System “Ready for Labor and Defense” (Gotov k trudu i oborone, “GTO”).
The program for this event includes the traditional track and field relay Technopolis, Olympic run for teachers and staff, a group completion of the Ready for Labor and Defense Russian physical culture program by SUSU students and teachers, as well as an entertainment program,.
“This year the event will be dedicated to several anniversaries. Our university will celebrate its 75th birthday, the Department of Physical Education and Health – its 70th, the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture and Sport – its 20th, and the relay with prizes from the Technopolis newspaper – already its 50th anniversary. So we decided to hold a university-wide sport event which will be supported by the Ministry of Sport of the Chelyabinsk Region,” says Director of the Institute of Sport, Tourism, and Service Vadim Erlich.
A food court zone will be organized at the event where they will prepare pilaff in a unique 130-liter cooking pot by recipe of professor of the Department of Production Technology and Catering Organization, Abduvali Toshev.

Around 2,000 people will participate in the sporting events. The honored guests will include SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sport of the Chelyabinsk Region Leonid Oder, Minister of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region Andrey Kuzentsov, and the Head of the Office of Physical Culture, Sport, and Tourism of the Administration of Chelyabinsk Evgeniy Ivanov.
“This event will be organized at a very serious level, equal to city- and region-level events. In our opinion, everything should be interesting, draw a large crowd, and it will be impactful,” notes Vadim Viktorovich.
The event will be held at the Elena Elesina Track and Field Complex on May 17th at 15:30.
