On May 14th at 15:00 the opening ceremony for the Ecology&Arts Exhibition will be held at the SUSU’s Arts Hall. Works by the artists presented at the university exhibition hall are united into exhibit blocks “Pristine Earth”, “Industrialization and Its Consequences”, and “The Earth of the Future”.
The artists include Chelyabinsk artists and graphical artists, British and Moscow graffiti artists, and photographers from Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, and Estepona (Spain). The posters created by means of computer graphics were provided by environment protection organization Robin Wood from Hamburg (Germany). The SUSU’s fine art experts and a photo artist will act as the exhibition curators.
The exhibition has an international status, and has no analogues as per its structure and concept on uniting in one space the works of different types of art. This concept is experimental and breaks the conventional traditions of exhibiting works of art. The curators are making an attempt at matching and presenting the works of art in such a way that the whole exhibit’s effect on the audience is stronger than just the sum of impressions from each single work.
The exhibit offers to the audience the works which reflect the views of the artists and curators of the exhibition regarding the changes happening in the world around us. But the project’s task is not only to pay attention to the changes in natural landscapes or living conditions. The exhibition shows the attitude of the human beings to the world and to themselves; human Fate and Ecology depend not only external impacts, but also on the landscape of soul of every individual – its faith or lack of faith, its striving to beauty or indifference, moral power or spiritual anemia.
The exhibition’s goal is by using the language of art to focus the audience’s attention on the consequences of interfering with nature, on dependence of ecology on the level of human culture, on the responsibility of every person for the changes in the surrounding world. It is possible to change approach to use of natural resources and ecology, very likely, when we act all together, and everyone on his/her own. When every citizen starts feeling responsible for his/her personal use of natural resources, then the humanity will have a chance for decent living conditions.
