For the 4th time the Victory Waltz, as a symbol of the triumph of peace on Earth, will be heard playing on the square in front of one of the major Russian universities, South Ural State University, on the occasion of the coming Great Victory Day.
On May 7th the Victory Waltz dance flashmob dedicated to the 73rd Anniversary of the Great Victory will be held on the square in front of the SUSU’s main building.
More than 300 people will be dancing the waltz. This will be a way for the victors’ grandchildren and great-grandchildren to show that they will always remember and will be forever grateful for this heroic deed. We should note that this dancing campaign has become a good tradition at our university.
“Victory Waltz is a symbol of generations, countries, and peoples uniting for the sake of peace on our planet. This is a gift for our whole city. SUSU is acting as the organizer of this event for the fourth time. The campaign’s participants are the most enthusiastic and brave students and lecturers of SUSU.
I’m inviting you to attend this event, and appreciate the result of many-days’ rehearsals of the Victory Waltz participants; but the most important thing is that I suggest that we all once again say ‘Thank you!’ to our highly respected veterans for the Great Victory!” SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov addresses the citizens of Chelyabinsk.
This year’s important novelty is that the campaign has become university-wide. If before the Victory Waltz participants were only students from the Faculty of Military Education and the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, this year all the SUSU’s institutes and schools will be represented at the event. Cadets from Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Secondary General School No.6 of the city of Chelyabinsk, and from Secondary General School No.98 will also be dancing the Victory Waltz.
The military band of Chelyabinsk Higher Military Red Banner Secondary School of Flight Navigators will be performing at the event. It will play everyone’s favourites: May Waltz, Autumn Dream, and On the Hills of Manchuria.
We would like to specially mention the contribution of the long-time Victory Waltz choreographers Vitaly and Tatiana Muller, under whose guidance the participants rehearse the Victory Waltz.
“Professional dancers and simply immensely talented guys, Vitaly and Tatiana Muller rehearse with the participants,” shares Natalya Tuchkova, Editor-in-chief of SUSU TV broadcasting company. “They need not only teach the flashmob participants the basic waltz steps, but also structure a unified complex pattern out of the dancing couples, who through their synchronous mass dancing must transfer their emotions from those tragic but great for our country historical events to the audience.”
Among the audience of the event will be those to whom we should say thank you from the bottom of our hearts, those whose heroic act will forever be in everyone’s heart – the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and homefront workers.
We invite everyone to attend this incredibly emotional and patriotic campaign involving a huge number of dedicated people.
