Maslenitsa celebration is to be held at the territory of South Ural State University’s campus.
Maslenitsa is an Eastern Slavic traditional holiday celebrated during the last week before the Great Lent, which in its rituals preserved a series of Slavic mythology elements. According to Folk Calendar of East Slavs, the holiday marks the border between winter and spring, and signifies the beginning of the Great Lent.
Students living in SUSU dormitories organize a real public Maslenitsa. The event program includes celebratory games, funny contests, prizes and gifts. Guests will also be able to participate in a flashmob. Each participant can win a memorable prize.
At the end of the event, participants will see a colorful fire-show and traditional burning of the straw effigy.
During the celebration of Maslenitsa, a special photo zone will be operating for participants, and a banner for drawings and personal greetings will be organized.
Venue: location behind Dormitory No.7 (80 Lenina prospect);
Event date: February 16;
The event starts at 17:00.
