SUSU Rector Alexander Shestakov Once Again Elected as Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Ural Federal District

 

At the scheduled meeting of the Council of University Rectors of the Ural Federal District, the Rector of South Ural State University, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor Alexander Shestakov was once again elected as the Council Chairman. The representatives of about 60 higher education institutions located in the Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as in the Khanty-Mansijsk Autonomous District and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, are members of the Council of Rectors of the Ural Federal District.

Alexander Shestakov has been acting as the Chairman of the Council of University Rectors of the Ural Federal District and has been successfully supervising it from 2012 through 2017. Under his guidance, the Council paid special attention to coordinating the work of universities of the Ural Federal District; organizing exchanges on experience in improving academic and research activity; improving quality and modernization of higher education; forming efficient model of intrauniversity quality control system; improving cooperation of universities and businesses regarding staff training and employment; forming international relationships for the Ural Region universities; and improving the competitiveness of Russian universities in the international academic space.

International humanitarian relationships between the Ural Federal District and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States were discussed at the previous meeting of the Council of Rectors. This time, the Council of University Rectors of the Ural Federal District is preparing for the Forum for University Rectors of Russia and Kazakhstan under the guidance of Alexander Shestakov, which will be held November 8th, 2017. Today, this event is one of the most important events for the strategic tasks of developing Russian universities.
