On October 17 and 18 the Blood Donor Day event, within the frameworks of which everyone who wants can donate blood, is to be held at South Ural State University.
Starting from today, a specially equipped mobile block-module of the blood transfusion station is positioned at the parking lot near the second SUSU building. On the second floor there is a consultancy point where future donors pass registration and consultation with a therapist.
“In the last year, a donor movement formed in Russia among volunteers. Every person wants to be part of this charitable activity, to make a contribution,” says organizer of the event, head of the SUSU Volunteer Center Elina Alieva.
During two days of the event about 200 people donate blood. In the first day, here gathered SUSU students, employees and other people willing to help. For many people it was not the first time of donating blood.
“I feel good, as usual; this is my sixth time of donating blood. Helping people is a noble deed. If I can help, why not to?” says student Yulia Kuzmina.
Those who came to the charitable event for the first time and were nervous, got professional support of doctors who measured their blood pressure and told them about all details of the process. Before donating blood, participants on a mandatory basis drank sweet tea and ate cookies in order to increase the level of glucose in their blood.
“I have never donated blood before because I was afraid. But I decided to do it after all because my Mom has been telling me since my childhood that I have a rare blood type. I decided that someone needs my blood, it might help someone,” says student Polina Yankovskaya.
The event will last until October 18, the mobile station is waiting for future donors near the second SUSU building from 8:00 till 13:00. In order to donate blood, you need to bring passport, and have registration or residence in the Chelyabinsk region, eat a light breakfast and wish to save someone’s life.
