On June 24-25th, Anna Shtrakhova, Associate Professor of the Department of Clinical Psychology at the SUSU School of Medical Biology, delivered a series of public lectures on “Mental State and Body – Clinical and Counseling Aspects” at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".
Over the recent years, the School of Medical Biology has been widely and actively developing the collaboration between Russia and Bulgaria regarding the issues of clinical psychology, psychiatry and general medicine. Presently, such dynamic collaboration is evolving with the Medical University of Varna and Varna Free University, as well as with psychological departments of the Philosophical Faculty of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The collaboration has been strengthened by joint research studies and publications in the mentioned fields, and by public scientific lectures delivered by the leading specialists of the Clinical Psychology Department.
Thus, Anna Shtrakhova delivered her public lectures in the foreign university. They excited much interest, and the heads of the Bulgarian university expressed their thanks to our Department’s professor for her contribution to the development of education in the field of Bulgarian counseling psychology.
At the request of our Bulgarian colleagues, such practice of providing information to the psychology students and Master Degree students of this university will become regular.
Moreover, on September 13th this same year, the Head of the Clinical Psychology Department at the SUSU School of Medical Biology Mikhail Berebin delivered his public lecture “Psychological Counseling and Psychotherapy: Similarities and Differences”. Over 100 people attended the master-class, including the professors from the humanities departments of the Free University. The lecture was followed by an active discussion of the issues touched upon at the lecture. Our Bulgarian colleagues were especially interested in the SUSU Department’s achievements on training clinical psychologists in the field of clinical psychological counseling and psychotherapy.
All our Bulgarian colleagues agree that developing the relationships between one of the most well-known Russian universities and the Free University of Bulgaria will renew the influence which Russian psychology achievements have on psychology development in Bulgaria, as well as will strengthen the traditional friendship between the people and specialists of our Slavic countries.
