On September 24, SUSU students from Sri-Lanka, China, Iraq, Venezuela, Columbia and Indonesia along with volunteers of the Center for Sociocultural Adaptation visited the premiere of Paquita ballet in the Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.I. Glinka.
The goal of the event was to introduce international students to Russian culture, because the best way to get acquainted with Russia culture is through the language of art. Another important task was to introduce international students to Russian volunteers.
It turned out that some students, both international and Russian, watched ballet for the first time! Everybody liked the new performance, the music and the atmosphere of the theatre in general.
Volunteers in both Russian and English explained to students the story line of the performance, the story about a French woman of noble blood who found shelter at a gypsy camp.
“It was my first time at the ballet! I liked it a lot, it was beautiful and very interesting!” shared his emotions Wu Wenke, a student from China.
“Getting to know these kind-hearted, open for communication students from other countries was very interesting and unusual. Their stories and impressions from what they have seen made us realize that what we and the Center’s employees do is not for nothing!” said Anastasia Glazneva, a volunteer.
