The goal of any company is to earn and increase capital. Therefore it is not surprising that nowadays one of the most in-demand professions is a financier. Annually on September 8, starting from 2011, the Financier’s Day is celebrated in Russia.
Department of Finance, Money Circulation and Credit of the SUSU School of Economics and Management - one of the leading graduating departments of South Ural State University – prepares highly trained specialists in the field of finance and economic activity. Head of the Department is Igor Baev, doctor of economic sciences.
“The Department has 50-year experience in training economic cadre, possesses a large curricular and technical background, highly trained specialists, the majority of which are doctors and candidates of sciences with the experience of consulting work in governmental and commercial structures,” says Igor Alexandrovich.
Graduates of the Department are working as CEOs of different levels in governmental entities, in business, in bank sphere, and in the largest consulting companies of the world: PwC, E&Y, KPMG, Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu. Many of them are known regional-wide or even nation-wide. For example, there are around 50 graduates of the Department who are currently working in Sberbank of Russia, including top-manager positions.
Graduates of the Department are: ex-director of the Chelyabinsk branch of Sberbank of Russia Alexey Alexandrov, deputy director of the Chelyabinsk branch of Sberbank of Russia Andrey Ruchai. There are also: chairman of the executive board of OAO Bank Snezhinskiy Fedor Bogdanchikov, vice-chairman of the executive board of PAO Chelyabinvestbank Dmitriy Piskunov, director for special-purpose planning of OOO Russian Space Systems Yelena Asanova, financial director of Chelyabinsk Mechanical Plant Tatyana Zheleznova and many well-known personas of the region’s financial sphere.
A chance to become a successful financier belongs to those who possess good knowledge of mathematical disciplines. A financier should have analytical thinking, excellent memory, attentiveness; he should know how to analyze obtained information, focus on the determined objectives. In this sphere of activity, assiduity and stress-resistance are important. Besides, it is important to have high workability and desire to aspire goals.
“Students of the Department of Finance, Money Circulation and Credit are always in-demand on the labor market. Banks, large industrial corporations and organizations annually invite them for undertaking internships with subsequent employment,” says the Head of the Department.
SUSU annually holds the Olympiad named after B.N. Khristenko where students, by demonstrating their knowledge of economy and finance and completing scientific research works in the frameworks of the competition, are getting ready to take part in international Olympiads. For many years students of the Department of Finance, Money Circulation and Credit have been winners and awardees of massive international Olympiads on the grounds of UNECON (Saint-Petersburg) and Lomonosov MSU (Moscow).
Financial manager controls financial resources of an enterprise. In any company whose activity in one way or another is connected with income generation, financial manager is one of the most important specialists: he takes the responsibility for planning the flow of money; he makes decisions about their floating, obtaining credits, planning the budget. Economic growth of Russia is straightly connected with perspective development of banking system where there is need in qualified specialists.
“Can the profession of financier lose its applicability? Of course not. Any self-respecting organization which aspires to boost its capital and lead a successful business requires services of a specialist of this sphere of activity. So if you get higher education and have good knowledge, you will surely not be left without job,” affirms Igor Baev.
