On March 20-23, being the member of Project 5-100, SUSU represented the Russian Higher School at the largest educational forum of the Asia-Pacific region, Asian Pacific Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition. It was the twelfth time the most important professional education event for the Asia-Pacific region called together the specialists in the field of higher education of the world largest universities, which proved a steady increase in interest in the internationalization of universities.
The main purpose of the forum was to discuss current trends and prospects for the development of higher education, cooperation in the field of research and academic mobility. It should be noted that APAIE is the main forum for international education in the Asia-Pacific region and one of the largest ones in the world along with NAFSA and EAIE.
At each of these events Project 5-100 organizes exhibition stands, where representatives of the universities participating in the Project can tell the world about their university. Among the universities participating in the Project, SUSU is also represented on the general stand. On March 22, within the framework of the conference, a session of Project 5-100 devoted to international education in Russia was held. The experts demonstrated the most important trends in Russian educational policy and the peculiarities of the national educational market. Particular attention was paid to the potential of Russian universities in terms of institutional partnership and general research with universities in the Asia-Pacific region. At the session of Project 5-100 in Kaohsiung SUSU was presented by the Head of the Department for Interaction with Rating Organizations of the Office of International Cooperation Daria Ivleva.
During the exhibition, the stand of SUSU was visited by representatives of many authoritative universities of the world. The greatest interest in the largest university in the Southern Urals was demonstrated by Asia University (Taiwan) (perspectives of cooperation in student and teacher exchange), Ecole Nationale Superieure d'informatique pour l'industrie et l'entreprise (France) (French representatives were interested in student double exchange programs), University Airlangga (Indonesia) (the main area of interest for Indonesians was academic/student mobility).
SUSU made a deal with the representatives of Syiah Kuala University Indonesia and signed a framework agreement. SUSU was also about to sign a framework agreement with Jiaotong University School of Software Engineering (PRC). The visitors of the stand were mostly concerned with the questions related to the number and specifics of the specializations in the University and the number of foreign students. Also the greatest interest of potential foreign partners was in such majors of our university as engineering and supercomputing.
Participation of SUSU in such an exhibition contributes to the recognition of the University in the world academic community, its internalization and the development of new international partnerships in the field of education.
