Quacquarelli Symonds, a respected British company that specializes in education abroad, carried out a rating of universities of BRICS countries. Compilers analyzed the achievements of 250 best universities from the five countries that have a significant influence in the region. This list included 55 Russian universities, including South Ural State University.
South Ural State University was able to save the results of the previous year in the ranking of QS BRICS-2016, despite the change in the methodology and the increase in the number of participating universities from 200 to 250. 421 universities from the BRICS countries in total were taken into consideration. 97 universities were audited from Russia. According to the total number of universities, the Russian Federation takes the second place in the ranking among all the BRICS countries after China.
“The participating universities of the project 5-100 remained the results of the previous year, which is respectable, taking into account the strong competition from other countries. We are making all efforts to improve the quality of Russian universities and to make them show good results in rankings,” - commented Alexander Povalko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
British representatives evaluated educational institutions by the following criteria: academic reputation, reputation among employers, the number of foreign students, the ratio of students and academic instructors and the publication activity of the university.
