The meeting of academic staff of the University with a leading expert in the field of Russian education, Professor of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, Deputy Chairman of the Council of International Jury of Project 5-100 Andrey Volkov took place at SUSU on February 10.
During the meeting Andrey Evgenievich analyzed a third-century history of Russian universities, outlined the future of Russian higher schools, and told about the educational world map. During his engrossing presentation Prof. Volkov concentrated on how development of digital and IT technology, individualization of educational programs, and the technological revolution changes the structure of higher education.
Andrey Evgenievich pointed out that the role of intellectual elite in the world is increasing. He also explained the essence of main indicators of Project 5-100. Special attention was paid to the importance of academic staff recruiting and the role of team project work.
The official meeting quickly developed into an informal discussion about intellectual potential of Russian professors, the quality of higher education, classical and practice-oriented approaches to personnel training.
Andrey Evgenievich emphasized that one of principal goals of a modern university is not only to provide practical knowledge, but also to impart critical thinking, which is an essential feature of the intellectual elite.
