Doctor of Sciences (Chemistry), Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences German Vyatkin was the founder of Scientific School of High-temperature Melts Physical Chemistry. Nowadays, studies of this scientific school are conducted on the basis of the Department of Computer Modeling and Nanotechnology of Faculty of Physics of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
South Ural State University comprises dozens of strongest scientific schools of natural sciences, humanities and engineering. Many of those were established early in the 21st century. One of the young and promising scientific fields is being developed by the Scientific School of System Programming of the SUSU School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.
The history of South Ural State University dates back 75 years. Over three quarters of a century, strong scientific schools in the spheres of natural sciences, engineering and humanities have formed here. One of the schools is the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities’ Scientific School called “Ancient History and Archaeology of Forest-Steppe and Steppe Eurasia”.
Russian scientific schools of roller operators, established within the 20th century, use two generalized approaches – the force balance method and the energy method, which have modifications in their structures. The founder of the Chelyabinsk scientific school of roller operators was Vladimir Vydrin (1920-1988), postgraduate student of one of the pioneers of the Ural scientific school of metallurgists, Professor at Ural Polytechnic Institute, Akim Golovin.
On December 19th, at the SUSU Activity Hall, 9 teams from the School of Economics and Management fought to win the title of the best department of the School of Economics and Management. The event was held on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of South Ural State University.

The celebratory week dedicated to the 75th Anniversary from the day of the university’s foundation finished at South Ural State University. Celebratory programme was very eventful and reflected the university’s storied history, as well as cultural and sport traditions. Within five days, the university vibrantly demonstrated achievements of its schools and institutes and presented its scientific, innovative and multi-aspect international activities, arts and sports.
A ceremonial meeting and celebratory concert dedicated to the university’s 75th anniversary were held on December 14th in the South Ural State University conference hall.
Before the ceremonial meeting and celebratory concert, a photo zone was opened for guests, where they could take commemorative photos with the robot QUANTUM. He is unique in that he knows 75 (!) facts on the life of SUSU, so he was able to answer any question about the university. Live music was heard from the conference hall, performed by the SUSU folk orchestra.
On December 15 of 2018, South Ural State University is to celebrate the 75th anniversary from its foundation day. Active preparation for the celebration, which is going to take place within five days, 10th through 14th of December, is being carried out at SUSU. Celebratory event programme will include opening of new laboratories and exhibitions, as well as presentations, concerts, flash mobs, contests and more.

On December 13, opening of the SUSU Association of International Alumni took place at South Ural State University. Rector of SUSU, Aleksandr Shestakov, started the event with a welcoming speech.
On December 13, Quantorium children’s technology park was opened in Chelyabinsk. This is a centre with contemporary equipment and unique learning programmes for schoolchildren. Children will be able to study there for free.
It is for the twelfth time when SUSU opens doors to those for whom cooking is not just cooking. Department of Production Technology and Catering Organization of Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service of SUSU became an organizer of the event.
On December 13, South Ural State University opened its own brand studio. The brand studio is a store of office supplies, clothing, hats, backpacks, and other useful items, which depict the logotype of South Ural State University.

Mechanical and Technological Faculty is one of the two faculties, which South Ural State University originated from. The Faculty was established on December 15, 1943 alongside with the foundation of Chelyabinsk Mechanical Engineering Institute.
A hockey match between the Stars of Traktor and the Stars of Polytechnic was held at South Ural State University on December 10th in honour of the university’s 75th Anniversary. The teams included famous hockey players, champions from Russian and international competitions of the highest level.
Rector Aleksandr Shestakov spoke about the importance of hockey for the university and the development of sport at SUSU over the recent years.
A festival dedicated to the university’s 75th Anniversary will be held at the Sigma academic building (2nd floor) on December 11th at 13:30. The festival is organised by the SUSU Institute of Linguistics and International Communications.
On December 10, opening of an exhibition entitled «SUSU - A Bridge between the Present and the Future” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the university is to be held at the Science and Technology of the Southern Ural Exhibition Centre (room 018 of the main academic building) at 10.00. Organisers of the exhibition are the Marketing and Strategic Communications Department and the SUSU History Museum.
On December 10, Traktor Stars versus Polytechnic Stars hockey match dedicated to the 75th anniversary of SUSU is to take place on the SUSU hockey arena (82 Lenin prospect, near the Student’s Hospital) at 1.30 p.m. Organiser of the exhibition match is the Physical Education and Sports Club and the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service.
The teams include famous hockey players, winners of national and international competitions of the highest level.
