SMS-group is one of the oldest industrial companies in Europe. The group includes a number of enterprises that produce machine-building equipment and machine-building complexes for processing steel and non-ferrous metals. The company is one of the world leaders in the field of metallurgical engineering, in the field of production of pipes equipment, forged products, nonferrous metals and heating equipment.
SMS-group has been cooperating with the University for more than 5 years. Students of the university undertake an internships at the enterprises of the unit in Russia and Germany. In 2014 Executive Vice President of SMS Siemag AG (Germany) Pino Teze held a master's seminar for students of SUSU as a full-time university lecturer. In 2017 a memorandum on strategic cooperation was concluded between the organizations.
On the roadmap is the creation of a laboratory for additive technologies "Mechanics, laser processes and digital production technologies", led by Professor of the National Engineering School of Saint-Etienne (ENISE, France) and the head of the Resource Center of Special Metallurgy, Associate Professor Marina Samodurova. The staff of the laboratory will include researchers, PhD candidates and graduates of the university, who have sufficient experience in this field.
