Objects of professional activity The objects of professional activity of graduates are mechatronics and robotic systems, including information and sensor, actuating and control modules, their mathematical and algorithmic support, software, methods and means of their design, modeling, experimental research, debugging and operation, research and production testing of mechatronics and robotic systems with different application areas. Types of professional activity service and operational; organizational and managerial; Professional activities service and operation: programming, debugging, adjustment, tuning of metronomic and robotic systems and their subsystems during their operation; preventive maintenance and functional diagnostics of systems; writing operating instructions for mechatronics and robotic systems and development of routine testing programs; writing applications for equipment and components, writing technical documentation for equipment repair. organization and management: writing organizational and technical documentation (schedules, instructions, plans, estimates) as well as reports in accordance with approved forms; organization of work of small groups of engineers and technical workers; prevention of industrial injuries, occupational diseases; certification of hardware, systems, processes, equipment and materials.

Major: Industrial Thermal Power Engineering Level: Bachelor’s degree Duration of training: 4 years – full time, 5 years – part time Degree certificate: Bachelor’s degree Mode of study: Full time, part time Language of study: Russian Programme manager: Konstantin Osintsev, +7(351)267-93-95, osintcevkv@susu.ru Description of the educational programme In the course of the program special attention is paid to theory and practical application of heat and mass transfer, recuperators, regenerators, systems and devices for transporting liquids and gases, heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, equipment of thermal power plants, boiler units operating on all types of organic fuel, steam and gas turbines, as well as some of the applications of these systems and their features in various industrial enterprises. These systems are in high demand in ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy enterprises, mechanical engineering, chemical, oil and gas industries.

15.03.03 Applied Mechanics (Applied Mechanics, Dynamics and Durability of Machines)

Unique features of the program: Aircraft engines and tractors, parts of nuclear reactors and ultralight aircraft, instruments and body armor, and much, much more - talent and knowledge of our teachers and scientists is embedded in these products. We generously share this knowledge and experience with our students - in lectures, in laboratories and in our textbooks. The department has five doctors of science, the rest are candidates of technical sciences. Our employees are well known for their scientific work not only in Russia, but also abroad.

The programme focuses on forming the theoretical and technological base of the processes of producing ferrous metals and alloys, and high-quality casting. Bachelor’s degree students take internship at metallurgical and mechanical-engineering enterprises in our region. 22.03.01 Materials Science and Materials Engineering

Major: Materials Science and Materials Engineering Level: Bachelor’s degree Duration of training: 4 years Degree certificate: Bachelor’s degree Mode of study: Full time Language of study: Russian Programme manager: Gennady Mikhailov, +7(351)267-92-21, E-mail: dean@met.susu.ru Description of the educational programme SUSU’s undergraduates in the field of Materials Science and Materials Engineering are trained in order to conduct research and technological activities at research organizations and industrial enterprises in the sphere of metallurgy and machine-building, their research technical centers and laboratories. The department of Materials Science and Physicochemistry of Materials  is equipped with modern equipment for laboratory and research work as well as final bachelor's work: optical and electron microscopes, test equipment (tensile machines, impact machines, hardness testers), instruments and machines for determining physical properties, equipment for obtaining new materials and their processing. Undergraduates participate in Russian Olympiads in the field of Materials Science; when solving cases – complex tasks related to the choice of the necessary material for specific, generally extreme conditions, its production, processing, and accompanying economic calculations of the necessary cost. For several years in a row our students have won prizes in such nationwide competitions. Based on the results of research many articles are published annually in the Bulletin of SUSU (Metallurgy series) and other publications. Every year, the metal scientists and materials scientists, the best students become laureates of the Ya.P. Osadchy Prize (Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant). Our graduates, thanks to their thorough scientific and practical training at the university, are in high demand at the enterprises. Due to the expanding range of products being produce, new materials are needed (for example, for the nuclear industry and nuclear power plants) and, accordingly, new technologies for their processing. Our region, including Chelyabinsk, is known to have quite a few ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises, mechanical engineering, research organizations, such as RosNITI. Graduates of the department of Materials Science and Physicochemistry of Materials work at all aforementioned enterprises.  

20.05.01 Fire safety

Major: Fire safety Level: Specialist’s degree Duration of training: 5 years Degree certificate: Specialist’s degree Mode of study: Full time Language of study: Russian Programme manager: Svetlana Borovik, +7(351)267-94-80, pmik@susu.ru Description of the educational programme Students acquire knowledge of the norms of legal regulation in the field of fire safety, the activities of the fire department, the operation of systems and means of ensuring fire safety, emergency rescue equipment. They have the ability to apply methods for assessing the technological processes and related fire risks, calculating systems for fire-prevention automatics, developing operational and tactical documentation, operating firefighting equipment, etc. The program is focused on training specialists in the field of fire safety, for carrying out activities in units of the State Fire Service of the Emergencies Ministry of Russia, civil defense and emergency situations, design and service organizations, and at the facilities of the economy. The uniqueness of the program lies in its applied nature and the integration of the theoretical and practical foundations of academic disciplines with the graduate’s future professional activities. The main advantage of the program is the ability to attract students to participate in events held by the EMERCOM of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region.  

13.03.02 Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Electric Power Systems with Integrated Relay Protection and Automation)

Major: Electric Power Systems with Integrated Relay Protection and Automation Level: Bachelor’s degree programme Duration of training: 4 years Degree certificate: Diploma Mode of study: Full time Language of study: Russian Programme manager: Konstantin Gorshkov, Candidate of Sciences (Engineering), Associate Professor Description of the educational programme A holder of a Bachelor's degree in the profile of electric power systems is in command of the knowledge of the processes of transmission, conversion and distribution of electricity, normal and emergency modes of operation of power electrical equipment, technical means of protection and automation of technological processes, dispatch control systems, methods of energy saving and improving reliability. Classes under the programme are held in the functioning laboratories of high-voltage engineering and high-voltage equipment, relay protection and automation, dispatch control, mathematical modelling of power systems, electric power systems with power converting equipment. In the process of training, students receive knowledge focused on the development and application of modern electricity transmission and distribution systems, the introduction of digital technologies in electrical networks, the use of microprocessor-based relay protection and automation devices, and the operation of all types of electrical equipment. The training is held using a practice-oriented approach, while internship and pre-graduation practical training are carried out at enterprises of the Chelyabinsk Region with the ability to select relevant topics of course and diploma projects. When teaching students, the formation of the competencies required by the Federal State Education Standard is carried out using modern teaching methods and tools. At the disposal of the Department's academic staff there are modern means of designing, mathematical, physical and computer modelling; a wide range of industrial and laboratory equipment, which is intended, from the very first day of training, to provide students with practical acquaintance with the equipment being studied. For the students' internship, course and diploma designing, the Department has close ties both with enterprises of our city and our region, and with the innovation laboratories of SUSU, which are the sites, where students perform research-and-development. The graduates of this educational programme are in demand at the labour market not only in the Chelyabinsk Region, but also across Russia. The goal of the program is formation of cultural and professional competences and focusing on training students in the field of transport, construction, agricultural and special mechanical engineering, as well as operation of machinery. The objects of professional activity of graduates: Cars, tractors, motorcycles, car and tractor trailers; Land transport and technological machines with combined power units; Multipurpose tracked vehicles; Multipurpose wheeled vehicles; Missile vehicles; Aerodrome technical support of aviation flights; Hoisting, construction, road machines and equipment; Agricultural machinery and equipment; Machinery and equipment for environmental engineering and environmental protection The field of professional activity of graduates includes transport and special mechanical engineering, as well as the operation of equipment.
