Yesterday’s Applicants, Today’s Students: SUSU Welcomed First-year Students

A traditional holiday dedicated to the Day of Knowledge has been held at South Ural State University.

Festive events began with a report by Rector Aleksandr Shestakov to a team of administrative and academic staff, as well as to students on the results of work in the 2020-2021 academic year and the strategic tasks of the university’s development.

Then, the freshmen were awarded student ID cards at higher schools and institutes. The directors of higher schools and institutes, mentors of groups, academic staff members and heads of departments had pep talks with the students.

At 13:00 in front of the SUSU Main Building a festive program began. Rector Aleksandr Shestakov addressed the freshmen:

“I congratulate you on enrolling in South Ural State University! We will try to give you good professional knowledge so that you become successful, manage to find yourself in life and become leaders in your professions. I want you to be a member of the family of South Ural State University. The family as of a union of people who love the university, where they study, and then work in it, make friends, create families. Have good studies at South Ural State University!”

After the official part of the event, videos about the university were shown on a multimedia screen. Everyone interested could take a picture next to the huge student ID card or giant books, write themselves a letter to the future on a white banner and then receive it at the graduation ceremony.

“My impressions from the holiday are very good. I still cannot believe that I actually enrolled in here. A new stage in my life begins and it comes with big responsibility. My expectations from student life are: good studies, loyal friends, active extracurricular life,” said the freshman Dmitriy Evstigneev.

For the first time on the venue in front of the Main University Building, a Spinner 360 video zone was installed. The students could be in the spotlight and get a cool video as a memento.

The festive program continued with vibrant performances by creative teams of the SUSU Recreation Centre and invited performers.

“The event was awesome. It was real fun with all contests, games, concert program, great mentors. Everything is just super! I am confidently opening a new page in my life,” shared her impressions the first-year student Darina Sidorova.
