SUSU Is the Leader of the National University Ranking of the Ural Region

The 12th annual National University Ranking presented by the Interfax information group has been published. South Ural State University, taking the 44-45th place, became the best among the universities of the Ural region and the second among the universities of the Ural Federal District. The list is headed by Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Within the framework of the project, 341 universities of Russia were assessed. The ranking includes all status educational institutions in our country. Experts of the Interfax information group assessed universities according to six categories: educational activities, research activities, social environment, international and interregional collaboration, brand, innovation and technological entrepreneurship.

In the Internationalization and Brand categories, South Ural State University has been included in the TOP 30 of the best universities in our country, taking the 27th and 23rd-24th places respectively.

The objectives of the annual research of National University Ranking are the assessment of the activities of a modern Russian university which meets the best world standards; development of a communication channel between the academic community of the country and mass audiences; search for new methods and technologies for assessing the activities of institutions in the field of education, research and development, innovative development, and social development.

“An expert assessment of the key areas of university activities reflects not only the current state of the university, but also determines the prospects for its further development. This year, many federal and regional universities have improved their competitiveness, including through the accelerated digitalization of educational processes and the strengthening of competencies related to new technologies and innovative solutions,” noted Executive Director of the Interfax agency Aleksey Gorshkov.

South Ural State University (SUSU) is a university of digital transformations, where innovative research is conducted in most of the priority fields of science and technology development. In accordance with the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, the university is focused on the development of big scientific interdisciplinary projects in the field of digital industry, materials science, and ecology. In the Year of Science and Technology, it will take part in the competition under the Priority-2030 program. The university acts as a regional project office of the World-class Ural Interregional Research and Education Centre (UIREC).
