International Conference on Philosophical Practice to Be Held at SUSU

July 27th through July 30th, 2021, at the Department of Philosophy of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities of South Ural State University and the Research and Education Centre for Practical and Applied Philosophy, with the participation of the Russian Association of Philosophical Practitioners, philosophy practitioners from all over of the world will take part in the ICPP-2021 conference “Philosophical Practice: Self-knowledge through Intellectual Creativity” in the format of online broadcasts in real time mode.

The decision to hold the conference in Russia for the second time and in the online format has been made by the Organizing Committee of the conference with the support of foreign and Russian philosophy practitioners, since in the context of the pandemic it is the only opportunity to meet and exchange experiences, present new ideas and trends in philosophical practice to the general public. Moreover, the experience of the last year's conference, organized at SUSU which attracted more than five hundred participants from abroad and Russia, turned out to be unique for the entire community of philosophy practitioners. The high level of the conference was recognized by scientists and philosophers from Germany, France, Spain, Israel, India, the Netherlands, and other countries.

Director of the SUSU REC for Practical and Applied Philosophy, Doctor of Sciences (Philosophy), Professor Sergey Borisov says:

“Due to the uncertain situation caused by the pandemic, we cannot guarantee that representatives of all countries will be able to get visitor visas to Russia by July 2021. This year, we, as organizers, have been entrusted with an important task, since the main goal of the second online conference is to choose a country to which Russia will pass the baton. But on behalf of the Organizing Committee, I want to emphasize that we are not going to limit the initiative of the participants only to this organizational meeting, we are always interested to meet and share our experience.”

Head of the Department of Philosophy of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Elena Grednovskaia:

“The holding of the ICPP-2021 conference “Philosophical Practice: Self-knowledge through Intellectual Creativity” at our university for the second time, literally a year after the previous meeting, is connected with our commitment to foreign colleagues. Last year, the experience of holding the conference was very successful. By the initiative of foreign participants, it was decided to hold another meeting on the territory of Russia, in St. Petersburg in an on-site format. However, the pandemic continues to adjust our plans, and so far the only option for organizing it continues to be in the online format. But this conference will not be a duplicate of the last year's one. Now philosophy practitioners, in addition to discussing their key concepts, intend to reflect on the existential lessons of the past experience of transforming the anthropological boundaries of human existence in a pandemic. And besides, we have an important mission: to organize a collective decision on the successor country for the next conference of philosophy practitioners.”

The Organizing Committee of the conference invites you to participate and is waiting for applications on the conference website. The program includes open lectures, workshops, master classes, and panel discussions. It should be separately emphasized that before and after the conference, master classes by the world's leading philosophy practitioners will be organized.

You can learn more about the previous ICPP-2020 in the news on the SUSU website, on the website of the "SMART University" newspaper and on the conference website, where video recordings of speeches, panel discussions and master classes are available.
