Applicant 2021: Enrol in SUSU and Create Technologies of the Future

The Department of Metal Forming of the Faculty of Materials Science and Metallurgical Technology invites applicants to obtain specialities, which create technologies of the future.

The department offers training in two Bachelor's degree programmes: 15.03.01 Mechanical Engineering in Pressure Metal Working and 15.03.02 Technological Machines and Equipment in Engineering of Technological Equipment. In 2021, 25 and 26 state-funded places are provided for the full-time mode of study.

Admissions tests for the Bachelor’s degree programme: Russian Language (USE), profile Mathematics (USE), Computer Science (USE) or Physics (USE).

Also, the Department invites students to study in three Master’s degree programmes: 15.04.01 Mechanical Engineering in Additive Technologies; 15.04.02 Technological Machines and Equipmentin Design and Maintenance of Technological Machines and Assemblies; 22.04.02 Metallurgy in Additive Technologies. To enrol in the Master’s degree programme, students should pass admissions examination according to their speciality.

The Head of the Department of Metal Forming, Candidate of Sciences (Engineering), Associate Professor Liudmila Radionova:

“Our department can indeed be proud of its history and traditions, but this does not prevent us from looking into the future. It is known to everyone that the choice of a speciality by an applicant begins with observing the material and technical equipment of the department. And our team and I, as a leader, are ready to accept this challenge of modern youth. Modern multimedia lecture halls, cosy classrooms with state-of-the-art computers, a computer modelling and 3D prototyping laboratory, an “industrial zone” with rolling mills, drawing mills, hydraulic presses are available to our students. Graduates of our department, possessing the skills of working in modern programs for the design of technologies and equipment, are not only in-demand by the enterprises of the region, but can choose which of the world corporations they are ready to work for in the near future.”

The department trains specialists for the metallurgical and machine-building industry, which is represented in the Chelyabinsk region by such major enterprises as PAO Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant, OOO ETERNO, AO Connecting Bends of Pipelines (CBP), PAOMagnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, PAO Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant, PAO Chelyabinsk Iron and Steel Works, AO Trubodetal, AO Kopeysk Mechanical Engineering Plant, AO The Russian Research Institute of the Tube & Pipe Industries, AO Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, PAO Asha Iron & Steel Works, PAO Uralavtopritsep, Chelyabinsk Radio Plant Polet and many more.

Today, graduates of the department are high-in-demand on the labour market both in the city and region, as well as throughout the Russian Federation. Employers express interest in students from the 3rd-year of their Bachelor's degree programmes.

Students at the department, who have an opportunity to engage in three educational areas - 22.03.01 Metallurgy, 15.03.02 Mechanical Engineering and 15.03.02 Technological Machines and Equipment –are able to obtain professional competencies not only in the field of metallurgical and mechanical engineering technologies, but also deeply know and understand modern technological equipment.

Graduates of the department work as heads, engineering and technical workers of majoriron & steel and mechanical engineering enterprises, successfully create their own business connected with the design and manufacture of equipment, the development of technology and the production of products made from modern structural materials.
