The Institute accumulates all the best scientific, educational, sports and student traditions of SUSU. The Institute was founded at the end of February 2013 and consolidated the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, Faculty of Service and Tourism, and Sports and Training Center of SUSU. In 2016 Engineering College of SUSU entered the Institute. The college has a rich history of more than 40 years of successful activity. This consolidation allows ensure successfully the continuity of different levels of professional education and enroll applicants on the basis of 9 forms. There are undergraduate and graduate students in the Institute who are focused on professional career in the field of physical culture and sports, pedagogical education, tourism, hospitality, service, photographic art and who plan to form the space surrounding people.   ISTIS trains Bachelor’s Degree students majoring in: Physical Culture; Physical Culture for People with Disabilities in Health (Adapted Physical Education); Pedagogical Education; Service; Tourism; Hotel Business; Technology of Artistic Material Processing. Master’s Degree students are trained for: Physical Culture; Pedagogical Education; Tourism. Training of PhD students majoring in “Biological Sciences” and “Physical Culture and Sports” is held within the Institute.   Educational programs of secondary vocational education are the following: Programming in Computer Systems Hairstyling Tourism Hotel Service Art of Stylistics and Make-Up Photographic Tools and Art. 15 doctors and 53 candidates of sciences, honored coaches of Russia, honored workers of physical culture and sports, honored workers of higher education, higher achievers of physical culture and sports, field judges of All-Russian category, masters of sports, members of the creative unions work with students.   There are six academic buildings, unique sports facilities, a major research center of sports science, and small innovative enterprises at the disposal of students. Sports facilities of ISTIS are the largest and most considerable in the Chelyabinsk region. The source of pride is a sports pool of Olympic standard. Students, pupils of Children's and Youth Sports School of Swimming that we have created on parity basis with the city, and the swim team who defend the honor of the University attend the swimming pool. ISTIS has 18 gyms (including halls for physical training, fitness halls, halls for group programs, volleyball and basketball halls). Sports and Training Center of the Institute of Sports, Tourism and Service of SUSU is the pride of the city of Chelyabinsk and its region, and it is widely known across the country.  Training facilities of the college include a number of specialized rooms, laboratories, studios, and workshops: Laboratory of Techniques and Technology of Painting, Drawing and Artistic Graphics Laboratory of Graphic Works Modeling, Materials Testing Laboratory of Technology  of Hairdressing, Modeling and Hair Decoration Beauty Studio Hair Salon Laboratory of Cosmetology and Make-up Laboratory of Computer Technology in Photography, Photography Art and Technology, and Advertising Photography Laboratory of Photographic Materials Processing Technology Technology and Design of Garment, Modeling and Decoration of Clothes Office Laboratory of Product Design and Fabric Cutting Laboratory of Technology of Development of System and Application Programming Hospitality Office Museum of Technology of Materials Artistic Processing.   In 2013 the Research Center of Sports Science was founded within the Institute of Sports, Tourism and Service. Innovative equipment has been bought for the Center. Scientists conduct applied and fundamental research on different topics. The students of ISTIS have been attracted for the participation in research work since the first academic year.   In 2014 a small innovative enterprise “ISTIS-Tur” was founded at the premises of the Institute.  It has become the basis for scientific projects for students majoring in Tourism. In the near future we plan to launch a small innovative enterprise ISTIS-Med. The pride of the Institute is its graduates. Among graduates are Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, world record-breaker Maria Savinova, Honored Master of Sports in Judo, prize winner of World and Europe Championships, member of the Russian team at the Olympiad in London Kirill Denisov, Director of the Center for Tourism Development in the Chelyabinsk Region Tatiana Bai. The Institute collaborates actively with employers and is focused on their staffing needs. Representatives of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Chelyabinsk region, the Ministry of Culture, the Russian national team in cross country skiing, orienteering, kickboxing, swimming, weightlifting participate in the training of students. Over 200 organizations are partners of ISTIS and employers' loyalty index concerning the graduates of ISTIS is 100%.
