Traditional Povolzhskaya Open Mathematical Olympiad in the honour N.I. Lobachevsky has wrapped up in Kazan. Among the participants were students of South Ural State University.
This time, the Olympiad gathered 170 students from Moscow, Innopolis, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Tomsk, Tyumen, Izhevsk, Ioshkar Ola, Maikop, Chelyabinsk, and other cities.
The participants were offered to solve 11 interesting problems from various fields of mathematics: Linear Algebra, Analytical Geometry, Theory of Probability, Mathematical Analysis, and more. There was also a problem the solving of which required basic knowledge of Lobachevsky geometry.
During the competition among 28 teams, the SUSU team took the 3rd place.
Team members included: Aleksey Antsiferov (ЕТ-415), Aleksey Basmanov (ЕТ-122), Danil Kormilin (ЕТ-112), Kirill Nebero (ЕТ-212), Artem Kim (ЕТ-212), Vladimir Shalgin (ЕТ-415), and Denic Chumakov (ЕТ-212). The team’s leader was Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Programming Nadezhda Muravyova.
