Automobile and Tractor Faculty
The SUSU Automobile and Tractor Faculty was created in 1943 and it became the starting point for the whole university. The knowledge obtained at our Faculty will allow graduates to fulfil their potential in automobile and tractor, road and construction, and defence mechanical engineering, as well as in the transport industry. Master's students in programme 13.04.02 Electric Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Elements and Systems of Electrical Equipment of Automobiles and Tractors) study electrical equipment of land transport vehicles, and engineer electronic systems of automobile control. Formula Student project includes designing, engineering, and testing an electric vehicle. The students are planning on preparing to the competitions in Russia and abroad.
Master's students in programme 13.04.03 Power Engineering (Energy- and Resource-Saving Reciprocating Engines) do research on the working processes of piston internal combustion engines, develop digital models of the engines, and perform non-engine testing, as well as testing using model units and full-scale engines.
Master's students in programme 23.04.01 Technology of Transport Processes (Transport Logistics) develop route networks for cargo and passenger transport, digital twins of city cross-roads and elements of the street and road network; they also simulate cargo and passenger transportation by automobile vehicles, as well as the road traffic, and they solve the tasks on ensuring the transport processes safety.
Master's students in programme 23.04.02 Land-Based Transport and Technological Complexes (Automobiles and Tractors) design the elements of automobiles, tractors, road-building machines and equipment. Their goal also includes the engineering and modelling of the units and equipment of land-based transport and technological complexes, as well as performing the virtual, laboratory and road testing of wheeled and track-type vehicles.
Master's students in programme 23.04.03 Operation of Transport and Technological Machines and Complexes (Vehicle Technical Maintenance) develop the technologies of technical maintenance and repair of automobiles, transport and technological machines and complexes, and do computer modelling and laboratory testing of constructional materials and operational lubricants of tribocouplings.
Faculty of Material Science and Metallurgical Technology
The Faculty was established in 1952, and with time it has formed a very strong scientific team, which is famous for its scientific and methodological developments, and has trained thousands of high-class specialists being in demand at the enterprises of the metallurgy sector in the Ural region and beyond it.
Master's programme 22.04.02 Metallurgy (Technology and Digital Models of Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment) trains qualified metal science specialists, who are in demand at metallurgy enterprises. This Master's programme implies project-based learning in the course of which students directly participate in solving the tasks on controlling the structures and properties of products made of metal materials.
Academic Master's programme 22.04.02 Metallurgy (Digital Technology in Rolling-mill Practice and Metal Testing Support) is offered in the format of project-based learning. Within the frameworks of the fulfilment of project-based learning and in the process of solving certain production tasks students will be studying computer and physical simulation of the processes of pressure metal working and thermomechanical treatment, designing of the technological regimes of rolling and accelerated cooling, and will also master all currently available methods of controlling the quality of the rolling products.
Master's programme 22.04.02 Metallurgy (Smart High-precision Foundry) is designated for training specialists in the field of foundry production of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The graduates will obtain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of investment casts manufacture, as well as will learn the systems the casting processes simulation (PROCast, LVMFlow, SolidCast), and equipment prototyping. The training is organized in the form of project-based learning and focuses on mastering and practical fulfilment of the technological processes of resources- and energy-saving, environment-friendly high-precision foundry through the use of special methods and at production bases of industrial partners.
Master's programme 22.04.02 Metallurgy (Complex Processing of Slag from Copper Works) focuses on training metallurgy specialists in the field of processing of multicomponent ores, as well as technology-related waste. The training is organized in the form of project-based learning and focuses developing zero waste technologies of the complex processing of slag from copper works of the Ural region.
Master's programme 15.04.01 Mechanical Engineering (Digital Design and Production of High-strength Steel Welded Constructions) is based on the Department's historically developed scientific field on using soft interlayers in the weld joints in high-strength grades of steel. Master's students learn modern software products: ANSYS (supercomputer modelling), Kompas 3D (design and drafting, 3D models), SYSWELD (welded constructions modelling with consideration to the welding technology), Fanuc Roboguide (robotic welder programming), as well as robotic complexes for engineering of new reliable high-technology welded constructions.
Master's programme 15.04.01 Mechanical Engineering (Welding engineering) is taught in English. The program provides fundamental understanding of welding technologies and an awareness of recent technical developments in the oil and gas, the shipbuilding, and the pipe industry and construction. Sphere of knowledge includes the management of design and production of welded structures.
Graduates of Master's programme 15.04.02 Technological Machines and Equipment (Machines and Equipment of Metallurgical Production) are trained to perform design and engineering, production and technology, organizational, managerial, and scientific and research activities, both in the conditions of design and engineering companies, and metallurgy and mechanical engineering enterprises of Russia. The graduates will be able to work on creating competitive products in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as perform maintenance of high-technology equipment.

Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering
The Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering has a vast experience, experienced academic staff, and modern equipment, what allows it to train qualified engineers, who will be able to get well-paid jobs. The Faculty invites motivated people, who are not willing to settle for a position of a foreman at a production, or an engineer in a design organization, but instead are willing to be responsible for important decision making in a big project of a new combined heat power plant, or be designing an automated system for a drilling rig, or creating a new extra high-voltage transmission line at a digital production using unique equipment for that; holders of a Bachelor's degree willing to continue their studies in the Master's programmes of the Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering.

The field of activity of the graduates of Master's programme 13.04.02 Electric Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Complex Use of Renewable Energy Resources) includes all the facilities and complexes of heat power engineering related to using renewable energy sources (sun, wind, hydro- and geothermal energy). Besides SUSU (NRU), no other university in the Ural Federal District trains specialists in this promising field.
The peculiarity of Master's programme 13.04.02 Electric Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Optimization of Developing Electric Power Supply Systems) is that it provides unique theoretical and practical skills. The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering was established in the 50s of the 20th century, when rocket engineering was just beginning to develop in our country. Today, the Faculty supplies engineering personnel to the rocket engineering sector and related industries. And currently it offers the conditions required for obtaining elite fundamental education in engineering.
In the course of studying in Master's programme 24.04.01 Guided Missile Systems and Cosmonautics (Automated Electromechanical Complexes and Systems) students obtain advanced knowledge on smart electromechanical systems, methods of computing them, on digital control of electromechanical systems as applied to the facilities of land transportation systems, aircrafts, automation systems, and system of controlling technological processes.
Master's programme 24.04.01 Guided Missile Systems and Cosmonautics (Rocket Production) aims at training specialists for research and development, design and engineering activities for engineering of aerospace facilities, as well as for research studies in the fields of: aerohydro-gas-mechanics, heat exchange, strength, dynamics of structures and motion.
