On September 14-16 of 2018 in Kazan, under support of Russian Ice Hockey Federation, the 1st Cup of SHL Opening is to be held, featuring teams consisting of hockey players born in 1996-2002, representing more than 40 teams participating in the Championship and Competition of the Student Hockey League (SHL).
Best players of the tournament will get included in the youth SHL team and take part in Student Hockey Challenge international tournament, which is to take place in Krasnoyarsk from 1st till 8th of October, 2018.
South Ural State University and the Polytechnik Hockey Club will be represented by Maksim Antoshkin, Maksim Kulikov, Mark Pechora, as well as Artem Pletnev (coach) and Denis Kozyrev (coach).
A meeting of the All-Russian Council for Student Hockey development and an alignment meeting on Topical Issues of Student Hockey Development were held on the occasion of the event.
