SUSU Students Took Part in Russian-German Summer School

In the German city of Freiberg, a Russian-German summer school featuring SUSU and Deutsches Studentenwerk (German Students’ Mutual Assistance Association) has finished. 19 Russian students within 3 weeks had been learning German language and getting acquainted with European culture.

During this period, school attendees visited the richest Reiche Zeche mine, where 8000 tons of silver had been extracted; the Terra Mineralia Mineralogical Museum, which exhibits the most beautiful gemstones from around the world; the Saxon Switzerland National Park; and the Freiberg Brewery.

The group also visited Dresden, the green, blooming and parks-decorated city; Berlin, the city of contrasts and the symbol of unification; Weimar, where lived Goethe and Schiller, Bach and List; and Leipzig and Prague.

The students completed German language courses and received certificates that certify their language knowledge level.

The group of students would like to express their gratitude for hospitality to the Head of the Department of Culture, Thomas Schmaltz, and to supervisor of the student exchange program, Ani Kirakosyan, who was constantly with students, providing any possible assistance.

At the end of August, 15 German students will come to SUSU with a return visit.

“We are sure that experience of such cultural exchange is incredibly important for students, who get the opportunity to practice the language and connect with the greatest cultures of the contemporary world, as well as find new friends, get an unforgettable communication experience and unique emotions. Moreover, this valuable project helps establishing bridges of friendship and mutual understanding between Russia and Germany,” noted Mikhail Kurdyukov, the young people coordinator.

As an addition, SUSU representative organizer of the summer school of German language and culture is the International Mobility Office of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications.
