Industry Leaders Are Interested in SUSU Innovations

An exhibit by South Ural State University presented innovative developments at he main space for leaders of the industry sector – INNOPROM exhibition.

In 2018, INNOPROM exhibition became the main market for industrial technology, equipment, and services for four days. This year, INNOPROM, the main theme of which was digital industry, significantly increased its professional audience. 107 countries took part in the exhibition as exhibitors, delegates, honored guests, and business representatives.

In the exhibition space of 50 thousand square meters, stands were built for more than 600 companies and 20 countries: Belarus, Hungary, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Republic of Korea, Russia, Slovakia, USA, France, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Czech Republic, South Africa, and Japan.

SUSU researchers also presented their developments, in which representatives of the major companies became interested.

“Three professors from Kamensk-Uralskiy and several teachers from Ural Federal University came to find out about our automated laboratory rolling mill ДУО -130. Representatives from businesses in China and delegations from Korea were interested in the rolling mill and remote control with a touch-screen display. The technical director of a Magnitogorsk business was personally interested in our operator panel and found a way to solve his own technical issues with our help. The Moscow firm United 3D Labs was interested in our multimedia teaching technologies,” says engineer of Research and Production Institute of Education Equipment and Technology Roman Lisovsky.

“The demonstrative complex “Trenazhery” (“Training Machines”) was of interest to the director of the Fund for Manufacturing and Investment of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the director of the UralGazTest firm, and representatives of the Moscow Aviation Institute. Their main questions involved the development of digital twins on the training complexes of 3D modeling. Besides the directors of businesses, representatives of academic institutions also came to us with questions on the development of virtual reality demonstrative teaching laboratories for materials strength and materials science,” says engineer of Research and Production Institute of Education Equipment and Technology Artem Semashkov.

“We presented an educational and production lathe with CNC. We planned on talks, including with academic institutions of the Ural Federal University – Ural Engineering School, and Novouralsk College of the Metallurgical Factory. It is possible that we’ll sign a contract for a few lathes and 2-3 industrial robots. On the third day of the exhibitions, INNOPROM exhibitors began to walk around the floor and present their developments and additions themselves. We were shown solid-state lasers and electronic components. The Chinese delegations offered developments in electric drives,” says engineer of Machine Tools Office of Research and Production Institute of Education Equipment and Technology, Pavel Chigintsev.

“Heads of the marketing division for Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center and representatives of TEK media portal were interested in our Coriolis flow meter. In the future, these meetings will help us advertise the flow meter samples we develop throughout the project and bring them to market, since the project is aimed at the oil industry,” says research engineer of the Experimental Mechanics Laboratory, Dmitry Telegin.

8 more countries presented their own national stands: Belarus, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Japan, and, for the first time, Hungary, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Throughout INNOPROM-2018, more than 100 agreements were signed, including a large number of contracts and deals.

“Within the business program of INNOPROM, seminars were held in the following key fields: Russian-Korean partnership in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; industrial robotics; industrial cyber security; government support for industrial innovations; smart technologies for cities, and more. These events are a concentrated space for modern tendencies and trends of development in the “investment-business-society” chain as part of national technological initiatives and the development of engineering research. The university, as a center for the region’s research development, actively participates in these processes,” says Associate Professor of the Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Technology for Automated Mechanical Engineering Anton Nurkenov.

Next year, INNOPROM will continue to develop the digital industry theme, which corresponds to the trends and requirements of business and the market of Industry 4.0.
