On April 6, in the frameworks of Vmeste (Together) Festival, the Arabic Culture Day is to be held at South Ural State University.
International students from Arab countries will introduce the architecture and art of their countries to the audience, and show them the most famous sights and ancient cities. All the stories will be accompanied with Arabic songs, dances and poems about the countries.
“Such events are very important for sociocultural adaptation of SUSU international students as they give them the possibility to share a part of their philosophy of life with people around them, and support their bond with native culture, help broadening the horizon of Russian students and teaching staff and form a stable and various intercultural environment at the university,” says Head of the International Affairs Division, Olga Yaroshenko.
This holiday annually attracts attention of representatives of embassies and consulates of Arab countries. This year, among the honorable guests are: Nadir Yousif Eltayeb Babiker, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation, Riad Haddad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russian Federation, and Osana El-Sayed Mahmoud Elservi, Advisor of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Before the concert, a press-conference of the Ambassadors with international students will be held in order to discuss topical issues of education.
The celebratory concert is to be held at SUSU Activity Hall at 13:30. We invite all who wants to learn about the amazing Arab world.
Event program:
- 11:00: meeting with the representatives of Embassies (room 1003);
- 13:00: folk crafts exhibition;
- 13:30: celebratory concert (Activity hall, 2nd floor, SUSU’s main building).
As a reminder, in 2017-2018 academic year, there are 140 students and postgraduates from Arab countries studying at SUSU on the main programs; 108 students are taking pre-university courses.
