On December 22nd, the Contest Committee formed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science summed up the results of the selection stage on choosing recipients of state support for centers of the National Technological Initiative for Universities and Scientific Organizations. Six research and development institute centers of excellence were chosen, four of which are at universities, and two – at scientific organizations.
South Ural State University became the winner as part of a consortium with National Technological Initiative Center “New Manufacturing Technologies” at the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The SUSU team filed its application under guidance by Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs, Alexander Dyakonov.
“A lot of work was done to complete and win this contest. Throughout 2017, we developed partnership with the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University which is headed by Alexey Borovkov, the leader (co-director) of the NTI work group, TechNet. This is a significant event for the university, as participation in such projects allows us to be among the leaders in strategic fields of development of Russia. This is, first of all, realization of the tasks of the National Technological Initiative, strategies for the scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, and other state programs for developing our country,” says Alexander Dyakonov, Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs.
Brief Information
The rules for obtaining state support for centers of the National Technological Initiatives at higher education and scientific organizations and the rules for completing selections for awarding the appropriate grants were stipulated by Decree No.1251 of the Government of the Russian Federation as of October 16, 2017.
Decree No.1406 of the Russian Government as of December 20, 2016 implies grant support for centers of the National Technological Institute (NTI) at higher education and scientific organizations.
The grants will be awarded from funds of a special subsidy of the federal budget. The rules for offering this subsidy are stipulated by a signed decree from the organization which has been entrusted as the project office of the NTI for grant payment.
The regulations on the selection for this grant support for NTI centers is also approved.
The functions of the National Technological Initiative project office include the selection stage, organization of application evaluation, and support and monitoring of the centers’ activities, carried out by JSC RVC Government Fund of Funds, Development Institute of the Russian Federation.
For the period of 2017-2020, the federal budget includes a provision of 7.8 mln. rubles, divided by year: 2017 – 2 mln. rubles, 2018 – 2.4 mln. rubles, 2019 – 1.8 mln. rubles, and 2020 – 1.6 mln. rubles for the support of the National Technological Initiative.
