SUSU Improved its Position in the National Ratings of the V. Potanin Fund

Annual ratings of universities by the V. Potanin Charitable Fund have been published once again. The rating was compiled over the last 12 years at the conclusion of the Fund's academic programs for students and professors and is one of the leading independent ratings of the quality of higher education in Russia.

South Ural State University notably improved its indicators and took the 29th position this year (last year the university was in 42nd place).

“The Fund’s ratings differ significantly from other international and Russian studies, demonstrating a different approach. It’s an aggregate rating of the participation of students and professors in competitions of the Vladimir Potanin Scholarship Program”, explained general director of the V. Potanin Charity Fund, Oksana Oracheva, “I want to underline that people make the decision to participate in these contests independently. However, if there’s a certain atmosphere in the university, that can help the process. In that way, our ratings show how strong the university’s creative atmosphere is, how it stimulates students and professors to independent search for new solutions. Like nay rating, this is an instrument – for us, it is an instrument for the rotation of member-universities of the program. The rating is necessary when you consider that 75 universities from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok are participating in the Scholarship Program.”

The list of criteria for the rating is:

  • Quantity of students in the full-time master’s program in the current academic year;
  • Quantity of students participating in the Scholarship Competition;
  • Quantity of student winners of the Scholarship Competition;
  • Points gained by students who participated in distance and in-person stages of the Scholarship Competition;
  • Quantity of professors participating in the Grant Competition;
  • Points gained by professors participating in the Grand Competition;
  • Quantity of university professors who won the Grand Competition;
  • Quantity of university professors who participate in the Fund’s School;
  • Points gained by university participants in team competitions;
  • Points gained by winners of the Fund’s School.
