South Ural State University hosts the 5th Open Forum on the Issues of Ecology and Water Bodies Protection, which has brought together more than 700 participants: representatives of governing authorities, industry, science, ecological and public organizations, as well as teaching staff members and volunteers from various regions of our country.
This forum is a major platform for discussing burning ecological issues, exchanging experience, and presenting modern solutions in the field of environment protection and rational use of natural resources.
Welcoming the forum participants, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler stressed the special importance of the ecological agenda for our region and our country:
“At this forum, we traditionally discuss the topics of environmental safety, preservation of natural resources, and formation of ecological culture. These tracks were highlighted by the President of Russia among the key ones for our country, and are in detail described in the “Environmental Well-being” national project, a successor to the “Ecology” national project. The Chelyabinsk Region has become one of the most active participants of both projects and has already achieved significant results.”
Our region’s head also visited the “Ecology 2026: Equipment, Solutions, and Developments” exhibition. Leading industrial enterprises, as well as South Ural State University, presented their stands there. Alexey Texler highly praised the advanced developments in the field of ecology by the university’s scientists.
After the opening ceremony, a plenary session on the “Environmental Well-being” national project was held. Among the participants were: Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation for Water Resources Aleksandr Shadrikov; Advisor to the Head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources Iliia Razbash; Chairman of the “Ecosystem” All-Russian Ecological Public Movement Andrei Rudnev; as well as Deputy Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Analytical Centre of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia” Andrei Matsurov. The meeting was moderated by the Head of the Russian Ecological Society and Chairman of the Coordination Council on Environmental Issues under the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Rashid Ismailov.
“I would like to thank all our guests, who have arrived to the South Urals to participate in this traditional event. Currently, our forum has gained a federal status and continues to actively develop, bringing together more and more experts, representatives of governing authorities, science, business, and general public. This plenary discussion covers the topics of implementation of the “Environmental Well-being” national project, issues of water resources preservation, tasks for development of our country’s water-economic complex, as well as ecological volunteering and education,” noted Rashid Ismailov.
Experts at the discussion noted that many Russian Federation entities look up to the Chelyabinsk Region in terms of the environmental work.
As part of the plenary session, winners of the “Professional Ecologist” contest were awarded, and the marks of compliance with the Ecological Standard of the Chelyabinsk Region were conferred.
The forum continued with the work of thematic venues, where crucial issues on ecology and environment protection were discussed.
