“SUSU’s 82 Years on the Move”: Festivities Concert Held at the University

On December 15th, South Ural State University celebrated its 82nd birthday! This is a special day for everyone related to SUSU: students, alumni and the teaching and administrative staff members.

As part of the “SUSU’s 82 Years on the Move!” festivities program, guests enjoyed vibrant creative performances by student teams and musical surprises from the Recreation Centre.

The university President Aleksandr Shestakov offered words of congratulations to students and staff members:

“Dear colleagues and our students! It’s our common birthday today. In over these 82 years of the life of our university, it has always been setting big tasks and bringing them to life. And those were people who were doing this. Those of you, present here today, have achieved successes in the previous years and will continue to do that in the future. I wish you good health, wealth, successful work in education and science, and achieving all the goals that we have set!”

The concert began with singing of the SUSU anthem. The audience sang along the endearing lyrics together with the Primavera choir.

The Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner congratulated students and staff members on this special event:

“It is my greatest pleasure to express my most sincere congratulations to you on the 82nd anniversary of the foundation of South Ural State University. We have mentioned many successful accomplishments today, and indeed, this year has seen our big achievements, and many of these we could call pivotal changes at our university. I would like to thank each student and member of the teaching and administrative staff for your colossal work! Happy birthday, dear SUSU! I wish that we continue to flourish, find new heights and conquer them!”

On the occasion of the university’s birthday, Regional Manager of AO “Alfa-Bank” for Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk Region Sergey Snetkov attended the festivity. He awarded certificates to the “Alfa-Bank” scholarship holders.

The university’s most well-known creativity teams performed at the concert to congratulate their alma mater: SUSU Jazz Band headed by Georgy Anokhin, Ladies Band vocal studio, Deep Vision dance team, Male-voice Choir of the SUSU Faculty of Automotive Engineering, and the SUSU Ballroom Dancing team.

In addition, right before the Birthday event, our university had resumed its tradition of awarding the SUSU Recognition Award 2025 prize to its staff members, who have made a special contribution into development of SUSU, as well as have been successfully solving the most challenging and important duty- and production-related tasks. Candidates had been grouped into the following categories: “Mastery of the Year”, “Sport of the Year”, “Culture of the Year”, “Education of the Year”, and “Science of the Year”. The best staff members had been named through independent voting. The awarding ceremony for the nominees was held during the festivity concert. As the tradition goes, Alexander Wagner named the Grand Prix winner in the SUSU Recognition Award 2025.
