Vadim Erlikh, Director of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service (ISTIS), Doctor of Sciences (Biology) and Professor, has been named a laureate of the Russian Professorial Assembly's national award, "Professor of the Year 2025", in the Biological Sciences category. The Russian Professorial Assembly award recognizes outstanding scientific achievements in education and science.
The Professor of the Year Award was established by the Russian Professorial Assembly to preserve and further develop the scientific potential of Russian science and higher education, stimulate scientific and technological development, and reward outstanding researchers and educators in higher education. It is awarded in categories by field of study and by federal district.
"I am sincerely pleased and congratulate Vadim Erlikh on this title," shared Rector Alexander Wagner. "I consider it a great privilege to have such a high-level scientist and leader in our team. I would also like to especially note his high level of authority among students and faculty. We always know that where there is Professor Erlikh, there is victory!"
Candidates for the award must be Russian citizens, who hold a degree of Doctor of Sciences, and hold the academic title of Professor. Special criteria are also taken into account during the selection process: the number of individuals for whom the nominee has acted as a scientific advisor (supervisor) during the defence of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science (Candidate of Science); the H-index; social and scientific activity; and publication activity.
Vadim Erlikh is a Doctor of Sciences (Biology), Professor, Chairman of the SUSU Dissertation Council in the specialty 1.5.5 Human and Animal Physiology, Director of a project on "Development of Scientific and Technological Foundations for the Creation of New Limb Prostheses from Composite Materials", being implemented as part of a state assignment, Editor-in-Chief of the highly rated journal "Human. Sport. Medicine", author (co-author) of over 130 scientific publications, including nine monographs, one of which was published internationally. He is a co-author of over 10 patents for inventions, utility models, software certificates, and databases. He holds the honorary title of the "Honoured Worker of Education of the Russian Federation", the Honorary Badge "High Achiever of Physical Culture and Sports", the "Peter Lesgaft" Medal, and the Certificate of Honour of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
Since 2013, he has headed the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service. Today, it is one of the leading industry-specific educational and scientific centres in the Ural region. Under Vadim Erlikh’s leadership, significant infrastructure projects have been implemented, cutting-edge educational programmes have been created, and a world-class scientific school has been established. The university's athletes annually become victors and prize-winners at prestigious regional, federal and international competitions.
