November 10th and 11th, Volgograd State Technical University (VSTU) hosted a Media Forum, dedicated to the “Community Spirit” value, as part of a project by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. At this forum, South Ural State University was represented by the Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anastasiia Lapo.
In the course of two days, representatives of student media centres and student mass media were working on creating of social cause advertisements, the main goal of which would be conveying the contemporary understanding of the “Community Spirit” value and translating this idea to a wide youth audience. At the forum’s closing ceremony, VSTU passed the media torch to SUSU, where a forum dedicated to the “Humanism” value will be held already on November 18th-19th.
“We would like to express our immense gratitude to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation for organizing such an important event, and to Volgograd State Technical University that has opened its doors to host the dialogue between representatives of student media and invited speakers on the topic of the “Community Spirit” value. This traditional value is important not only for Volgograd, but of course for the South Ural region as well. The labour feats by the residents of our City of Labour Valour, Chelyabinsk, during the times of the Great Patriotic War would have been impossible without believing in the power of community and striving towards our common goal – the Victory. It was during the war time that the Stalingrad Engineering Institute (modern VSTU, that is passing the torch to us today) was evacuated from Stalingrad, and in 1943 part of its students and teaching staff members formed the Chelyabinsk Mechanical Engineering Institute, our SUSU! That is why the Passing the Media Torch “17 Values of Russia” event by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has made a significant contribution not only to supporting the importance of the community spirit, but also to preserving the historical memory and the “Humanism” value, which we will be discussing on November 18th-19th!” noted Anastasiia Lapo.
We are looking forward to welcome you at the next round of the Passing the Media Torch “17 Values of Russia” Media Forum by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the “Humanism”, which will be held at South Ural State University on November 18th-19th!
