Athletes of the “Check and Round” SUSU Student Chessboxing Centre have won medals at an international chessboxing tournament as part of the 2nd World National Combat Sports Games. The competition was held in the Chuvash Republic, October 5th – 12th, 2025.
“The 2nd World National Combat Sports Games have gathered around 6000 strongest athletes from many countries. The true masters will participate in thrilling fights, demonstrate unique moves, and uncover the whole diversity of combat sports for the audience. I’m sure that this big-scale sports festivity will be organized at a high level and will help strengthen our international cooperation and friendly ties,” Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of Russia and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, shared before the start of the competition.
Around 6000 athletes, coaches, official teams’ representatives, and judges became participants in the World Games. Among the members of the team of Russia were representatives of 76 entities of the Russian Federation. Teams from 39 countries from around the world participated in the fights. 4505 athletes competed to win their medals.
Russia took the first place in the team ranking. The second place was awarded to the team of Uzbekistan, and the third place — to the team of Kyrgyzstan. Thus completed the 7 days of fights in 17 categories of martial arts held in Novocheboksarsk. Chessboxing was also among the combat sports of this international tournament.
The chessboxing team from the Chelyabinsk Region were active participants in the Games and won different medals. The first place winners were: Matsur Kholzoda, Petr Kaiukov and Violetta Shaider. Silver medals were awarded to: Danil Beliaev, Kamila Khuzhamkulova and Kirill Ivanov. Our congratulations to the whole Chelyabinsk chessboxing delegation on winning their medals! The Chelyabinsk Region was represented in the team by chessboxing athletes from such sports clubs as the SUSU’s “Check and Round” Centre, “Burevestnik” Olympic Reserve School, and “Yunost-Metar” Olympic Reserve School. Our team’s manager and head coach is Aleksey Shakhovskiy, senior lecturer from SUSU.
