South Ural State University has taken its place in the 801-900 positions group and has become one of 1000 world’s top universities. In the ranking of the leading Russian universities, SUSU holds a place in the 30-34 positions group.
In 2025, the ninth annual edition of the Three University Missions ranking has included 2000 universities from 112 countries from around the world. Russia has preserved its place among the top three world’s leaders as per the number of participants in the list of the best universities. Over one year, the number of Russian universities included in the Top 2000 has increased from 152 to 156. Universities from all federal districts of our country are represented in the list of the best.
The Three University Missions, the Moscow international ranking, takes into account three parameters, and the main one is “Education”. It includes the amount of student wins in international student contests, share of international students as compared to the total number of students, university budget to number of students ratio, and students number to academic staff number ratio. The “Science” parameter takes into consideration the university’s share in total national publications, IREG List awards won by academic staff and alumni, average normalized citation impact (at the national and global level), and research income per academic staff member. The “University & Society” parameter includes data on the university’s amount of Massive Open Online Courses, university’s website and followers on university social media, number of the university’s alumni with an individual article about them on Wikipedia, and transparency.
The Three University Missions ranking system is an alternative to foreign indicators of development of universities. It passed the international third-party audit by PwC (a major audit company) and by the IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence international expert council, and is approved by 25 leading specialists from 16 countries around the world.
