The final session of the "Growth Point" is in progress in the Olimp Sports and Recreation Camp. It is a unique project that immerses interested students in the basics of psychology and nutrition. The program includes intensive training in self-regulation skills, goal setting and effective communication
The participants spend their last days of vacation actively: they play sports, play games and swim in the lake. But in addition to rest, they learn more about themselves, learn how to define their emotions and feelings.
"We conducted a social survey among students, and the study showed that the guys are afraid to turn to psychologists for help. Together with our mentors and tutors from the School of Medical Biology, as well as invited speakers, we aim to teach the guys self-regulation and self-help skills through various activities," said SUSU student, manager of the grant project and the fifth session of the "Growth Point" Anastasiia Serova. "We also developed a self-regulation diary with all the practices and trainings. The guys fill it out, write down their feelings and emotions."
Special attention was paid to the art of self-expression through art therapy, creativity and interaction between participants.
"There was a great demand for art therapy. Many people like to express themselves through painting, or drawing with pencils and markers. In my opinion, creativity gives the right to be yourself, it is a great way to express yourself. In addition, it is important for psychologists to know the non-verbal language of the body, so a speaker from an open inclusive space was invited to conduct a "Speaking without Words" master class," noted Anastasiia Serova.
During the lectures, students learned how to better understand their own needs and learn to take care of their emotional state.
“At the age of 18 to 25, a crisis of self-identification occurs, that is, people are actively searching for themselves, their hobbies, they can feel lost and unstable, because they are developing and forming,” emphasized speaker, psychologist and organizer of psychological trainings Tatiana Sablina. “In this crisis, it is important to understand how to take care of yourself, create stability in life, feel more confident for further self-expression in various spheres of life.”
Director of inclusive events and leader of the sign song group in the "NasheMesto" open inclusive space Aleksandr Prisiazhniuk was the second speaker. During the master class, students learned the sign alphabet, basic words, and at the end they learned a fragment of a song in artistic sign language, and also got acquainted with the culture of open inclusive spaces.
"It has been an extremely eventful and interesting day. I especially liked the master class on sign language. Aleksandr introduced us to his projects, which touched us to the depths of our souls!" shared her impressions SUSU student Dariia Slepova.
The participants of the session not only had a good time, but also acquired important life skills necessary for a successful future. The "Growth Point" project demonstrated its effectiveness in developing young people and preparing them for independent maturation and professional fulfilment.
