An innovative UKME-1500 electric vehicle for public works has been presented at the INNOPROM 2025 international industrial exhibition. It was created by the "Heart of the Urals" Advanced Engineering School jointly with JSC "Kurgandormash". This is an important step towards environment-friendly technologies and independence from import in the utility machinery sector.
The key advantages of UKME-1500 are that it is environment-friendly, easy in operation and maintenance, and impresses with its high mobility and uniqueness. Low noise level and absence of hazardous emissions considerably reduce the negative impact on the environment and make it a perfect solution for urban works.
"This project is a good example of the effectiveness of integration of the interaction between university and production. We were closely collaborating with engineers from Kurgandormash plant, and this has allowed us to create a vehicle that is ready for series production already now. UKME-1500 is not just a concept, it is a ready-to-use solution for modern eco-friendly cities," notes Sergei Taran, Director of the "Heart of the Urals" Advanced Engineering School.
The implementation of the "Advanced Engineering Schools" project had taken place within the frameworks of the "Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation" state program from 2022 to 2024. Since 2025, the continuity of the activities of the "Advanced Engineering Schools" project has been ensured by including them in the "Universities for a Generation of Leaders" federal project of the "Youth and Children" national project.
