Alexander Wagner has Told about Admission Campaign Trends for 2025: New Educational Opportunities at SUSU

A press conference was held at South Ural State University, where Rector Alexander Wagner discussed the key features of the 2025 admission campaign. The agenda included new educational programs, strategic projects, partnerships with industry leaders, and support measures for talented youth.

The admission campaign in all the universities of the Russian Federation officially began on June 20. South Ural State University offers prospective students a wide range of opportunities for both professional and personal development.

SUSU students have the opportunity to earn an additional qualification alongside their major degree. This allows them to learn related professions or advanced skills, boosting their competitiveness in the job market.

“One of the main goals of the education system is to prepare graduates who are in demand in the labour market and capable of effectively solving production challenges. Our university is committed to providing students with a diverse set of educational opportunities and a broad range of competencies. By enrolling at university, students receive not only basic academic education, but also additional qualifications that help to successfully adapt in the professional sphere,” noted Rector Alexander Wagner.

One of the unique projects for obtaining additional qualifications is the “Digital Departments” project, which offers more than 50 programs for developing competencies in IT and digital technologies.

SUSU continues to strengthen cooperation with leading industrial enterprises across Russia. In 2024, the university launched new academic tracks in partnership with the Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant and KONAR Industrial Group. These programs allow students to work with real industrial tasks and offer employment opportunities right after graduation. Among SUSU’s key industry partners are: OOO Ural Diesel Motor Plant, AO URAL Automobile Plant, OOO ChTZ-Uraltrack, AO Kurgandormash, PAO ChKPZ, PAO Rosseti, Academician V.P. Makeyev State Rocket Center, Oktyabr Production Association, Electromashina Scientific Production Association, PAO MECHEL, AO Polet, SKB TURBINA, and others.

A major innovation this year is the launch of two top-tier education centers at SUSU: VirtUM, specialising in artificial intelligence, and Digital Ural, focusing on IT. The university's industrial partners will be actively involved in the implementation of the project, aim of which is to prepare world-class specialists within the framework of higher education using advanced knowledge and applied cases.

To support talented students in reaching their full potential, SUSU is launching a new internship program. Each year, 100 second- and third-year students will have the opportunity to complete internships in Russia’s most dynamic cities: Moscow, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, and Sochi — at over a dozen of the country’s top universities.

“This internship will be focused on developing professional skills, competencies, and practical knowledge. This will significantly enhance the quality of education at our university,” explained Rector Wagner.

SUSU also maintains its status as one of the leading universities offering both civilian and military training programs. The Military Training Center at SUSU is the only one of its kind in the Chelyabinsk Region and prepares officers, sergeants and reserve soldiers. The Center currently trains SUSU students as well as two platoons from Chelyabinsk State University (ChelSU), with planned cooperation with Ural State University of Physical Culture. Following directives from the Ministry of Defense, the MTC is also working to introduce training modules for unmanned aerial vehicle operators.
