The Association of Public Relations Teachers has summed up the results of the annual All-Russian contest “The Best Qualifying Diploma Paper in the Field of Advertising and Public Relations – 2025”. According to the results of the contest, Doctor of Sciences (Pedagogy), Professor of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Anna Cherednyakova and Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogy), Associate Professor of the department Irina Lychagina have been awarded 1st degree certificates as academic advisors for the preparation of the best qualifying diploma papers in the categories: “Advertising and Public Relations in the Industry” and “Advertising and Public Relations in Solving Regional Problems”.
The purpose of such contests is to identify and encourage promising young people interested in research and analytical activities in the field of public relations, advertising, and branding.
“Participation and winning in the All-Russian contest of qualifying diploma papers of the Association of Public Relations Teachers by the students and teachers of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities demonstrates the high level of management of qualifying diploma papers and the training that is organised at our department. This proves that the educational process meets all modern requirements for specialists in the field of advertising and public relations and is being done at a highly professional level,” said the Head of the department, Doctor of Sciences (Philology) Liudmila Shesterkina.
The works submitted to the contest undergo strict evaluation by experts. The first stage includes an internal selection of the best qualifying diploma papers within each university. At this stage, expert commissions are created, which consist of teachers, academic advisors and experts in the relevant fields of knowledge.
“Every year, more than one hundred talented students with scientific and creative potential, who have successfully written and defended their qualifying diploma papers within the framework of Bachelor’s, Specialist or Master’s degree programmes, take part in the contest. Our students and their academic advisors annually take part in this competition and consistently win prizes. Teachers of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations are also members of the expert committee,” explained the Director of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Professor of the Department Lidiya Lobodenko.
The Best Qualifying Diploma Paper in the Field of Advertising and Public Relations contest also includes categories in advertising and public relations in the political, commercial, non-commercial and economic spheres.
“For example, the topic of promoting brands in the construction industry is relevant, since today it is a highly competitive industry, the market of which has doubled over the past two years. In such conditions, it is extremely important for brands of special equipment to conduct a competent marketing and communications policy. This is the topic of Yulia Minakova’s qualifying diploma paper,” noted Anna Cherednyakova.
A big number of works were devoted to the specifics of advertising and public relations in international spheres, the features of strategic communications and information technologies in the practice of promoting the region.
“Today, promotion of regions is one of the key tasks that their heads have. One of the effective instruments of such policy are sports events. Ekaterina Karpovskaya’s work is dedicated to organizing a complex of such events that contribute to the formation of a positive image,” noted Irina Lychagina.
