Yana Zaripova, a Master’s student of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, has become a winner in the “Breakthrough of the Year” category of the “SHUM” national youth award in the field of media and journalism!
The girl is working at the SUSU-TV Television Company as a director, cameraperson and editing director for the “Avenue of the Young” student broadcast about talented youth. Yana also directed several short films.
The Beyond Exceptionalism documentary has been presented before the distinguished jury. It is Yana’s diploma project, which she has brilliantly defended this year. This work touches on a number of important topics: the development of adaptive sports in Chelyabinsk, the accessibility of education for people with disabilities, the influence of media on the perception of individuals with disabilities, and it was brilliantly defended at SUSU.
“Receiving this award has become a big surprise for me since I saw so many talented guys competing for it, and what important and necessary projects they came up with. The emotions at the awarding ceremony were the brightest, most honest, sincerest, I really did not expect it and still do not fully understand what has happened. I think I will digest this information for a few more days. It was very big-scale, a bit exciting and very, very joyful event! All of Chelyabinsk, the entire university, my friends, relatives, and my home country Kazakhstan ‑ everyone supported me in the popular vote. And this support is of the greatest value for me,” shared Yana Zaripova.
According to the student, the project is designed not only to inspire, but also to educate the viewers. It shows how people with disabilities successfully realize themselves in a variety of areas.
