SUSU Professor Wins in an All-Russian Contest

Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor of the SUSU Department of Electric Power Generation Stations, Networks and Supply Systems Evgeniy Solomin has become the winner in the “Golden Names of the Higher School” All-Russian Contest.

The “Golden Names of the Higher School” project is an annual competitive selection (based on recommendations of universities and scientific institutions of the Russian Federation) of the most worthy representatives of teaching staff who have personal success, achievements in the educational process using the latest methods, or innovative practices aimed at improving the quality of education.

In 2024, more than two thousand staff members of educational organizations from all regions of our country took part in the contest. When determining the winners, the Expert Committee took into account such indicators as accumulated period of work, scientific activity, availability of educational and methodological publications, active exchange of experience with the teaching community, contribution to the development of the higher education system, active use of information technologies in teaching, development and implementation of innovative educational methods, professional experience and its application in teaching, regular advanced training of the participant, innovative approach to teaching and availability of an information resource used to improve the quality of the educational process, received industry-related awards, honorary titles and other distinctions, petitions, acknowledgements and letters of support of the Participant from organizations in the field of education and science, government bodies, enterprises, as well as expert, public, social and educational work.

Professor of the SUSU Department of Electric Power Generation Stations, Networks and Supply Systems Evgeniy Solomin was the only one from the Chelyabinsk Region to become the winner of the All-Russian Contest in the “For Contribution to Science and Higher Education” nomination.

“I had more scientific publications than other participants (twenty eight in Q1 over the past five years).The jury also noted innovative approaches to teaching in terms of organizing project-based learning and my other achievements,” shared Evgeny Solomin. “In addition, I got included in the “Year of the Family, Scientific Teaching Dynasties” sub-nomination due to the fact that my parents, as well as grandparents, had also been teachers. I am very glad that I was so highly evaluated. Honestly, I did not even expect that. And I am going to implement new methods in teaching.”

The awarding ceremony was held in the Congress Hall of the Russia National Centre in Moscow. As a reward, the winners received certificates and badges of the “Golden Names of the Higher School”, the eponymous Book of Honour for 2024, which includes the names of the finalists, a certificate for free publication of a textbook, certificates of winners in the contest and letters of acknowledgment from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The “Golden Names of the Higher School” project is implemented by the League of Higher School Teachers Interregional Public Organization with the support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The contest is aimed at raising the status of the profession of a higher school teacher and rewarding the winners with public status and the “Golden Name of the Higher School” award with the posting of information about the winners on the portals of universities, in the “Golden Names of Higher School” book of honour, and further promotion of the winners and their methods on radio and television, in print media and newspapers, on specialized portals and in social media.
