Remembering the Past and Thinking about the Future

November 22nd-24th, Russian Student Teams meeting, commemorating the 65th anniversary of this movement, will be organized in Moscow. The opening ceremony will be held in the State Kremlin Palace.

Leading up to this important event, a meeting was held for the attendees of the courses in the professional training programmes for members of student construction brigades (majoring in Facing Expert and Tile Layer; and Brick Mason) with Sergey Goriushkin, member of the "Builder" zone brigade and a 1982 alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering and Construction of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute. He was a legendary leader of the Chelyabinsk Regional Student Team, which became a multiple winner of the national competitions during the Soviet times under his guidance. He was among those who initiated the revival of the student teams movement in the Chelyabinsk Region in 2003 and also chaired the board of the Chelyabinsk Regional subdivision of the Russian Student Teams.

As always, Sergey Goriushkin was very emotional and provided a retrospective journey into the history of our country when he was talking about the origins of one of the major mass youth movements in 1959, and about its various periods: successful and not so good ones, when there was little work even for staff builders, let alone for students. He expressed his gratitude while remembering those people who were creating the today's Chelyabinsk Regional Team together with him (developing not only the construction subdivision, but also subdivisions in other fields of student activity of the third labour semester), as well as those who are heading the regional subdivision of the Russian Student Teams at present.

The attendees, who are learning working professions as part of the grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation won by our university, listened to the information with great interest and thanked for the organized meeting. We hope that for the majority of them (and these are mostly junior year students) their first participation in the construction brigade in the labour summer of 2025 will not be the last one. They must become worthy of carrying on the traditions of the student teams fellowship, and the veterans should help them with this and become those who these students will be looking up to.
