SUSU and Metran Will Become Curators of New Governor's Engineering Class

Representatives of South Ural State University and Metran Industrial Group, the management and teachers of Computer Science and Mathematics of the Academic Lyceum No. 95 of the city of Chelyabinsk discussed the implementation of the Governor's Engineering Classes project.

The Lyceum has won this competition for the second year in a row. This year, the 10-1 class with advanced study of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science has become a participant in this program. Its educational activities will be supervised by SUSU and Metran.

Specialized classes will make the transition from school to university smoother and more meaningful: during the training, children will be guided in many engineering areas and will have an opportunity to "try out" the profession in practice. Universities, professional education organizations, and various specialized industrial enterprises are directly involved in the educational process.

"Our university is implementing the "school-university-enterprise" model of work within the framework of this program. Metran Group of Companies is ready to participate in it and provide tasks for solution, as well as provide financial and organizational support," said Marina Potapova, Vice-Rector for Education at SUSU.

A unique curriculum awaits schoolchildren. In addition to regular classes, there will be a special day once a week when children will be able to engage in project activities, solving real project and production tasks by Metran.

"Our goal is to make engineering professions more attractive to schoolchildren, so that they see the prospects of studying and working in their home region. We are planning various events within the framework of the Governor's Engineering Classes for this purpose," explained Mariia Dmitrienko, HR Director of Metran Industrial Group.

The university is developing a whole system of events, in which the university teachers will act as curators, accompanying the course of solving the enterprise's problems. The best students of SUSU will act as mentors, who will work on projects together with the lyceum students.

"Certainly, cooperation between the university and the lyceum is incredibly important for our students. They will meet their future employer and have an interesting education together with a university of such a high level as SUSU," noted Veronika Mushkarina, Director of Academic Lyceum No. 95.

In 2025, South Ural State University, jointly with Metran Industrial Group, plans to create unique higher education programs so that schoolchildren can continue the practice-oriented educational process, receiving a diploma with two qualifications, and also take part in other university projects: minors, digital departments, acceleration program, etc.

The main result of the work of the Governor's Engineering Classes project will be the creation of a single educational space for school graduates, which will provide the opportunity to obtain an engineering education and employment at leading enterprises of the Chelyabinsk Region.
