SUSU Included in the Top 50 of the Nature Journal Research Activity Ranking

South Ural State University has taken the 33rd place among Russian universities according to Nature international journal. Experts assessed the achievements by the university researchers in science, in particular the results of their publication activities. 

The journal has also published a consolidated ranking of the Russian universities and research-and-development institutions. Here SUSU ranks as high at the 45th place. The activities of such research centres as the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Skolkovo science city, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and the Kurchatov Institute were assessed, while the total of 184 Russian organizations made it to this ranking.

Among universities from all over the world, SUSU was included in the best 25% and took the 2229th place out of 17456 participants of the ranking.

As for certain sciences, SUSU demonstrated the best results in chemistry with its 26th place among Russian universities and 1863rd place in the world. Researchers achieved high results in the field of health sciences (41st place), as well as in biological sciences (44th place), and physics (54th place).

The ranking authors also noted the high share of the SUSU’s international contacts within the frameworks of joint research projects in 2023–2024, which is yet another proof of our high level of research and the international standing of our university’s scientific schools.

Nature journal is undoubtedly the world’s leader among popular science journals. It publishes articles on major discoveries in natural sciences, mathematics and archaeology. By the end of each academic year, this journal releases the ranking of research and academic institutions from various countries separately and from around the globe in general.
