This year, the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles under the Russian Ministry of Education and Science celebrates its 90th anniversary. Representatives of almost all CIS countries have arrived in Moscow to attend the anniversary plenum of the Russian State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles. The event have participants exchanged their experiences and discussed the prospects for developing a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of academic degrees.
"The State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles under the Russian Ministry of Education and Science is an essential tool in the formation of scientific community. It is like a gateway into the world of science for many generations of scientific and academic workers. The expert system created under the guidance of the State Commission has repeatedly proven its worth and has made a huge contribution to strengthening the authority of Russian scientific schools," noted Valery Falkov, Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The event agenda included issues of exchange of experience in the development of national systems for certification of scientific personnel and prospects for developing a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of academic degrees in the CIS.
Currently, the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, as approved by the Government of Russia, includes about 150 scientists and approximately 2000 specialists participating in the work of 44 expert councils.
