On the occasion of the World Television Day, which is celebrated annually on November 21, Rostelecom company, the leading national provider in our country, shared on what kind of video content residents of the Chelyabinsk Region prefer, how many films are bought per month, and how the Internet has influenced the development of television and television viewing. The data was announced at a press conference, which was held in the safest format, that is online.
In 1996, the UN General Assembly proclaimed November 21 as World Television Day, and the first World Television Forum took place on this day. At the online meeting in Chelyabinsk, experts remembered how television began in the South Ural region, told what role the Internet played in its development, and how the future television journalists, people who make modern television, are being trained today.
Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Director of the SUSU-TV Television and Radio Company of South Ural State University Sergei Gordienko says:
"Today, we are witnessing the merging of the Internet with television technology. The modern audiences do not watch television in the form in which the older generation watched it. Young people watch TV, but already on their phones, tablets, or other gadgets. Television of the 21st century strives to comply with the demands of its audience, and adapts accordingly. Now everyone can try themselves as a journalist, presenter and cameraman, with just a smartphone and Internet access. On the other hand, traditional TV technologies are widely used. For example, Internet streaming, which is a technology of linear television broadcasting from the scene."
"Interactive television is now at the highest stage in the evolution of television technologies. It is a high-tech combination of Internet and television. The signal is transmitted over the Internet channel. The essence of interactivity is that the viewer can pause the program, rewind it, watch a program or a series from the archive, or use a virtual video library. Digital quality, and thousands of channels at affordable prices are also important advantages of this type of television viewing. Viewers arrange their own television viewing at a convenient time for them," noted Director of the Design and Production Office of the Ural Macro-regional Branch of PAO Rostelecom Iuliia Nauruzbaeva.
