An exhibition of a mobile museum of weapons and memorabilia of the Great Patriotic War has opened at the Military Training Centre of South Ural State University, where the findings by the Chelyabinsk Region's scouting movement on the Sinyavino heights of the Leningrad Region have been exhibited.
The exhibition was opened by Konstantin Krikunov, Deputy Head of the Military Training Centre at SUSU.
“The scouting movement at our university is an integral part of the educational work that is carried out in the Military Training Centre. There are exhibits from the battlefield, which have been found by our scouting students during their expeditions. Some of the exhibits are mock-ups: for example, weapons that were used during the Great Patriotic War."
The SUSU Poisk Student Scouting Forces make a great contribution to perpetuating the memory of the fallen soldiers. Over the period of their work, the participants of the expeditions have found the remains of more than 200 soldiers and 7 identification tags.
“Everything that we have presented to the students of the Military Training Centre today is only a small part of what we managed to find. The boxes contain fragments from shells, parts from weapons, and various ammunition. Students are often interested in visiting such exhibitions, they often ask to hold the rifles, machine guns, to feel their weight," said Ivan Molchanov, a participant in the scouting forces.
According to Ivan, such exhibitions help students feel proud of their country, teach patriotism and help preserve the memory of the Red Army soldiers who gave their lives for our well-being.
“Such exhibitions demonstrate the way people lived, and how they defended themselves in the war. These events evoke a feeling of patriotism. Today, for the first time, I have heard about the scouting movement and what significant work is being done, including by students of our university, as part of the scouting forces. I was very interested in that, and I would agree to take part in it,” shared his impressions and plans for the future Kirill Kochetkov, a second-year student of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, and student of the Military Training Centre at SUSU.
The senior inspector of the Extracurricular Activities Office Yuri Meshkov noted that the exhibition of the findings by our Poisk Student Scouting Forces is held at the university on a regular basis.
“Exhibitions contribute to the preservation of the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. You need to know everything about war. You need to know what it was like and what it brought to people. These exhibitions help to attract students to the scouting movement, to be recruited to the forces. Since October, the Forces have been preparing for the participation in the All-Russian campaign “Memory Watch – 2021”. We are confident that this year the forces will recruit worthy soldiers, both boys and girls.”
We should note that the social project "Promotional Trip "Memory Watchers" is being implemented as part of the State Program "Patriotic Education of the Citizens of the Russian Federation for 2016-2020".
